W246 what spare wheel?

In the 4 years I had my first car, I blew up 3 engines and never had a flat tyre. But did I decide to carry a spare engine based on this experience?

Forget about the spare and just carry a can of fix-a-flat...

There's loads of other things that are more likely to strand you at the sede of the road than a flat tyre..

Sorry for jumping on this thread i own a W246 (2015) AMG LINE with 225/40/18 wheel and tyre the car came with a pump and a bottle of repair gunk, I'm paranoid that i will be stranded at some stage if i get a puncture , could someone please recommend a replacement spare wheel 16"/17" c/w tyre. i rang Mercedes and they wanted £479.88 for wheel tyre jack & wrench.

I bought a space saver + jack etc for the wifes B class its a 2013 and modified the space in the boot under floor panel. Fits in very well. Will find details of what I bought and post later. My fear was on way to airport or out of hours destination you get a flat and what then? At least with a spare you get to where you were heading almost as planned.

I purchased the following of ebay
2003-07 Mercedes C class W203 jack, tool and tow eye cost me £26
MERCEDES A CLASS W176 / B CLASS W246 16" SPACE SAVER SPARE WHEEL, 2011 - 2017 cost me £57.
There were a couple of tags that need removing from boot area and wheel fits in. then made a clamp to hold wheel in place. You will need to check bolt lengths with the steel wheel that it spins freely.
I read somewhere that the European version has a space saver.

Took a couple of pictures to help. The B did not have the vario floor and I susppect if it did whole process woudl be easier as you could just leave the floor on the higher setting and it be fine.

In my case with the space server the floor still shuts fine flat but had to remove the clip hook as it hit the tyre and was useless anyway as had nothing to clip to as the trim was removed in that area from the boot lip. Still it fitted well and no rattles or movement
