Warrantee on battery

A reasonable request, surely? They wanted to determine if it was a problem with the battery or with the car's charging systems. If it were the car's fault they would be giving you replacement batteries every 6 months and I guess you would be less than satisfied with the apparent lack of quality?

24 hours to test? I had tried two different chargers on it and straight away you could see it wasn't taking a charge

Battery warranties are a funny thing-- since I believe they are regarded as a item subject to "wear and tear" Some aftermarket battery replacement agreements are not entirely straight forward----- 4 year replacement warranty means if it goes down after 3 years you get a free replacement- less the 3 years of use -- so you get a new replacement battery but you have to pay 3/4 of the new price for what you have "already used" ---------and so on. Don't suppose MB are like this but its more of a " grey area" unlike say a suspension arm or steering ball joint failure.

The approved MB charger (Ctek) will diagnose the battery in less time than that. I would hope the dealers have something more sophisticated (ever the optimist!!) :dk:

Shouldn't that be: "John Lewis's previous approach". I've found there service standards woeful of late, in fact, amongst other things, they diddled me out of £32 for a bottle of wine. They're not what they were. No way.

Can't say I had anything other than top-notch service from JL. :thumb:

ok So I took the battery to MB , at first he turned me away and said its outside the 2 yrs warrantee. Wasnt happy with this as i saw on the MB website batteries are 3 yrs , logged my details of complaint and went back in to MB , apologetic NOT they will check battery for me overnight ect on there equipment. Shock i had to carry the battery from the boot of my gfs car in through the showroom myself , bad CS imho

whilst gf was on the phone to customer services i had the battery checked at a tyre place on a bosch tester it came back needed charging but the rating measured 614 and is meant to be 760 en A, so god knows what MB will say on Friday, if faulty though I get a new battery FOC, but only due to perseverance

edit measured 12.5 v after long charge

thoughts?

Up till about two years I would have wholeheartedly agreed with you. Then it just seemed to fall of a cliff. I try not to go near the place these days, Amazon are getting virtually all my business these days, and there CS is seriously good.

Pretty much as I expected, except for you having to carry the battery back and forth! That definitely poor customer service...

Agree about Amazon, pretty amazing service TBH.

Deliveries are lightening quick even on their FOC service :thumb:

I think they will come back with an offer of contribution but based on a full price battery which may well be more expensive than buying one from ECP

Can I borrow your ticket please Savman? I have a large amount of probs that I would like sorted!

What do you think about readings from the bosch tester?

I think it fits with a dead cell, it's 20% down.

Well the cs so far at mb bury st edmunds was ****ty so will see if the techs are any good to see this with their Gucci equipment

Got a feeling they're going to fob me off then charge me for testing battery , I will leave it there if that's the case lol

Pull the seats first. They both (if memory seats) have permanent live feeds! Easy fix to wire out the live so they only go live with the ignition if they are at fault....! They from memory when i did the multimeter test ran at about a 1.4 amp draw each

could be something drawing current, OR the alternator regulator on its way out. may be quicker and less hassle getting a mb indie to look at it.
