Waving at other Benz drivers?

I have to say it will be interesting to see if the Black C36 estate gives me a wave when I get mine. After all, it will be the 2nd on the island, so I guess their days on monopoly have gone.

mind you, there are only 2 other C63 saloons.

8........eight 63 M class tho?

i always used to get waves from fellow modified VW owners when i had my corrado.
I also used to get nods and waves from people when i used to take my old 1980's Jag XJ out at weekends.

People do throw certain hand gestures at me when im driving my old mans SL500, but not normally welcome ones...

Remember my old landrover 57 series one and a few landies would wave at me but when in disco none wouldwave, mind you i never waved at anyone ever:D

I've been driving one of Ian Walker's courtesy W124's this week and have been given nods and waves and even the odd "nice car mister" from other owners and passers-by! I don't get that in the 202!

Without fail when I was running the beetle. VW Camper vans of the surfing fraternity would occassionally give the vee-dub chill-out hand signal. It comprises a closed fist, with extended thumb and pinky. A waggle from the wrist can be applied for embellishment. Wiki'd here.

Got absolutely no acknowledgment from other road users when I had the w126.

The w107 does get more attention, other SL drivers of all vintages have been known to nod, and I had a wave from a lady in a white w107 once.

I've actually had cabbies in London looking at the 300D with interest, I suppose they know a fine motor when they see one! With good w124/126's becoming scarce, the current owners are more likely to be enthusiasts, therefore more likely to acknowledge fellow enthusiasts? I did attempt a wave at a white 124 estate recently, but the bafflement on the other party's face evidently displayed that time has not yet arrived. :D

Reminds me of when I used to surf a lot.

On the way to the beach drivers coming away from surfing would give thumbs up/down to indicate whether surf was up or not.

Forgot all about this.

I tried waiving to other Benz drivers today to see if any would waive back - none waived back!!!!

I live in Suffolk and there are a lot of MBs in the area! Perhaps that's why!

Paul :)

When I drive the namesake a lifting of the hand is my usual response to a wave - anything else is too garish:p.
When I first got the MB I occasionally forgot which car I was in and initiated waves to oncoming 'rados, but, curiously, they ignored me:wallbash:.

I usually get nods and sometimes beeps from the other side of the road accompanied by "NICE ALLOYS MATE", but its not just merc drivers that do this.

Few times i've had fun n games with other 202/203 AMG drivers, they probably mistake my car for a 36 then realise its not :)

I do on the cycles; most keen cyclists will nod or wave a hand. We get a lot of interest when on one of the tandems
Also common on the motorbike- nods usually
we have to stick together :D

I used to get some waves in my SAAB 900, even more in the 99. It follows that the older/rarer etc car you have the more folk of that ilk like to show a bond.
My mate has a VW bus and his wrist aches on a long journey...as it were...!

Had a momentary lapse in lane discipline on the Coxbridge roundabout today and a Jaguar driver gave me a wave and a toot on his horn

Suspect it was not in friendly greeting, woke me up though!!

I think we should all fit MB Club stickers in the top right corner of the windscreen, that way we would be able to spot fellow forumers!!! (to wave at of course!)

I got waved at by a fellow C124 owner a couple of weeks ago :D

SLK is far too common to ever generate a wave.

Shame, as fellow owners of my old Fiat Coupe Turbo would always wave.

a friend of mine bought a Smart car a while back and started freaking out by the amount of people waving at her. Thought there was something wrong with the front :D

I find it incredibly sad in a car, when I had my MK1 Golf GTI I was getting a fair amount of "Hang Loose" symbols thrown at me.

I nod all the time on the bike though, which is a bit contradictory.

Dave!

I use to drive an old 1973 landy, every landy owners where waving :)
On a bike too, but this is annoying as there are so many that you don't stop nodding/ waving etc... and after awhile, I caught meself few times while driving a car to wave at a motorbike...
I stopped that now, promess :D

To Davidbilyk, now you tell me, already fitted my stickers, bottom right on both screens.
