Faster than you will ever need already ... looks the business too ....

It's perfection as it is , you can't gild a lily ..... :)

YEs it looks fine but faster than i will ever need ???
I have previously owned 4 cars with 400+ bhp so this is far from the fastest thing on the road.
It needs a bit more noise, more grunt maybe better brakes.
I other words the spec of the w209 lol

Can it be supercharged ??

Not saying it was the fastest thing on the road ...

If you want to mod it , it's up to you ... good luck !

The w209 isn't supercharged .... shares the same engine IIRC

Sure it can be supercharged.

You're looking at £12-15k for the upgrade. 55 AMGs are very expensive cars to tune. If I'm looking to S/C a NA 55 AMG, I'll opt for a CL55 instead. Remap it and you can get 560BHP and 850Nm torque out of it.

Exhaust, good mod. The 55 AMGs can really sing with certain aftermarket exhausts.

Brakes, yes you can definitely do with better brakes. The W208 55 brakes are no where near the performance offered by the later AMG cars with Brembo brakes. However, if you don't track your car, you're unlikely to 'really need' better brakes. The stock brakes are good enough to activate ABS; hence, they are strong enough to stop the car dead. Might not last very long before the pedal sags to the floor if you work the brakes overtime. Here's where better brakes like Brembo/AP racing/ StopTech/AMG offer significant improvement. They are a lot more consistent with hard use.

I have Brembo brakes on mine. I track my CLK and more importantly, I love the way they look :p

Yes i know the w209 isnt supercharged.

I was refering to the brakes and most likley the ecu.

Peppernick - your 350 looks sweet i missed out on a set of brembos for £150 the other day.Never mind some more will come along.

If you need to modify it, did you buy the right car in the first place? My previous CLK was a 320 and I started down the road of looking to modify it when it occurred to me that I hadn't bought the car I actually wanted. When the time comes, the 63 will be on the shopping list.

Yes i did buy the right car, and i dont need to mod it i just like having a few aftermarket extras, and before anyone says that you will devalue the car or not see a return money wise, i know this.
I am well aware of what is required to produce a lot of horse power.
All i was asking what mods have people done to there cars.

18" wheels make a big difference to the looks of the car.

There aren't many Mercedes specialist tuners in UK - even fewer AMG.

www.kleemann.dk have a distributor in the UK who offer bolt on superchargers but they're fairly steep.

Outside of Brabus & Kleemann you'd need to look at an outfit like www.bbrgti.com or similar who will take on bespoke projects.

Was just wondering - each to their own. Basically a NA engine can be supercharged but for what you are going to spend on doing it, you could buy a new car. Any improvements in terms of stopping and handling will be worth the investment, as long as you take the attitude that you have i.e. don't expect anyone to pay you any extra cash for it when it comes to sale time.

Good luck whatever you decide to do.

Being fair to Brett, and also Peppernick for pointing out also - one of the best and most cost effective upgrades for most people could be (and should be IMO) an upgrade of the car itself.

The amount of people who I have seen spend as much as their car is worth on upgrading it, when for the same money they could be driving a much nicer car.

Eg - the supercharger upgrade - if that's going to cost £12-15K, what can you buy for £25K instead? A W211 E55 AMG with ~ 500bhp, CL55K - again, ~500bhp, a newer 209 CLK55, etc.

Obviously the choice is down to the individual, but it certainly does seem to make sense to me, and I think that was a reasonable suggestion myself :)

Didn't the W208 come with 18" wheels as standard? If not, it was seriously remiss of Merc/AMG at the time!

Nope, came with 17" wheels, same rim and tyre sizes as the W202 AMG that the platform is based on (7.5J front, 8.5J rear, 225/45/17 and 245/40/17 tyres)

Very remiss of them then! For the money they cost new, that was pretty outrageous really!

Even the W203 C32 AMG came with 17-inch alloys.

Small but perfectly formed. :D
