What mods for my CLK 55 w208 ??

Being fair to Brett, and also Peppernick for pointing out also - one of the best and most cost effective upgrades for most people could be (and should be IMO) an upgrade of the car itself.

The amount of people who I have seen spend as much as their car is worth on upgrading it, when for the same money they could be driving a much nicer car.

Eg - the supercharger upgrade - if that's going to cost £12-15K, what can you buy for £25K instead? A W211 E55 AMG with ~ 500bhp, CL55K - again, ~500bhp, a newer 209 CLK55, etc.

Obviously the choice is down to the individual, but it certainly does seem to make sense to me, and I think that was a reasonable suggestion myself :)

I understand now that a supercharger is too expensive thats why i was asking in the first place.
The reason i mentioned it, that i was looking at some Holden HSV's at the same time as the merc, and a few of them had superchargers fitted only costing around £3k.
Now before you all say that the holden engine is a very simple engine i know this. But the merc isnt much more complicated i.e. varible valve timming etc. like the E39 M5 bmw.

Thanks for your comments and suggestions.

i dont need to mod it i just like having a few aftermarket extras
I suggest an aftermarket exhaust and a Sprint Booster. These are mods that you will enjoy everytime you drive the car.

Asthetics wise, I personally think the OEM AMG bodystyling is pretty much bang on for the W208. I wouldn't add anything else.

The stance of your W208 55 is a lot better than the newer 209s (too jacked up), especially on 18"s.

I don't think it has much to do with relative complexity of the car - more to do with availability and the price people are prepared to pay.

C55 AMG came with 18-inchers.

I think the W203 C55 also came with 17" alloys as standard

Not this one ;) came with 18's as standard , i think ...

You are right, the outside is just right i was thinking about changing the grill for a later one with the mb badge in it.

Has anyone changed there exhaust ???

Ironically, the lack of an aiming sight disappointed me the most when I bought my W209 (I'd had two W208s before that).

but there is nothing better than roads with walls either side or tunnels. Radio gets turned down, windows come down...sad man really :D
I understand completely. When I had my M3, I used to join a group call 'Tunnel Run'. A group of cars, mostly supercars and their owners meet up at midnight in Central London. We drive round in search for tunnels across the capital until 3am :D

There is a case made for throwing away some or all the cats.

If you are already in the turbodiesel club, you can get 20% extra torque & power without difficulty and at a low cost with remapping and suchlike without need to raise turbine pressures. Enhancing low down diesel torque gives a more responsive and an arguably quicker car and for a lot less than tuning a petrol engine.

I wouldn't go for a supercharger on the N/A 55 series. It would have to be a W211 E55 instead, because of the risks of putting around 500bhp though the standard N/A E55 engine and gearbox - about a 40% power hike. Has anyone on the forum done this and successfully put on big mileages afterwards?

that is very familiar to me ..

I also do it when leaving/entering the underground garage where I live :)

Don't know if mine is made by Remus or not, but there is nothing better than roads with walls either side or tunnels. Radio gets turned down, windows come down...sad man really :D

that makes a lot of sense

My lovely CLK55 is FOR SALE

That will be a wrench. I've seen it myself and the one who buys won't regret it.

What are your plans now - is something else on its way?
