I will never again put washing up liquid into the screen wash. I did this years ago to my fathers car and gummed up the the system to my cost! I just an't worth it!
I have started using something similar to this one:
They are sold in Shell petrol station in 3L containers (all-season - up to -5 degrees). I find the flexible plastic container very easy to store in the boot next to the spare wheel, and it's also easy to pour into the washer bottle without needing a funnel.
I buy whatever is on offer and I read labels before choosing, usually -20C and usually abroad, to make sure it will survive low temperature when driving in Europe. SLK is hardly using screenwash and bottle of concentrate lasts between services but Audi is drinking it.

Yes, it sprays the lights when they are on and getting the bonnet dirty. That's where the screenwash goes ... I used it once when parked at home and then wondered what happened to my entrance door and why they are blue.
