Hi guys,

I've now picked up the 2.5-16 wheels from a full refurb. For those interested, they were done by our very own Andy (Stats007) of Amazing Alloys:

www.amazing-alloys.com

A fantastic job with great attention to detail, should be on the car for the GTG later in the month if anyone wants to see first-hand the results :)

They look great, I still need to give them a final polish and wax/seal them before they go on the car but as they've only just been lacquered I'm going to give it another day to play it safe :)

Anyway, I'm now considering the options for centre caps. Up until now, I've always stuck with the original design for my 2.5-16s. But part of me is considering fitting a different cap to them - perhaps the MB 'laurel wreath' design in either blue/silver or perhaps black/silver?

Not too keen on the chromed star type on these wheels?

Silver (Chromed) Star:

Opinions anyone?!

This is the car that they'll be going on, if that helps people to visualise them.

BTW, I desperately need to get the 124 wheels fitted, my pile of wheels is getting silly! Anyone got any spare MB wheel bolts lying around?! I'm planning on using blue laurel wreath centre caps for my 124 estate (it's blue ;) ), so maybe black/silver caps to go with the body colour of the 190? Or maybe play it safe with the plain ones?....

Should be able to trial a couple out in the next few days as a fellow forum member has sent me some blue/black caps that I can experiment with :)

looking good but why nine wheels will

Haven't you seen the new nine-wheeled MB cars? :D

It's actually a set of four wheels (to go on my 124 300TE) and another set of 5 wheels (4 + spare) for my 190E 2.5-16 :)

WOW THOSE ALLOYS ARE FANTASTIC...if you dont need the extra ones please let me know

sorry to hijack, but i have tried to find out how to send (Stats007) a pm regarding rebusihing alloys, but not to sure how to, any help please? and those alloys look brand new!!

Black is good Will.

With your black car it has to be the black wreath, Will.

Definitely Chrome Will.....

They look great - hope to get mine done in the next month.

Has anyone got any pics of the 15 hole alloys with the wreath centre caps as I've considered this occassionally before falling back into my 'keep it as Bruno intended' conservatism.. :)

Post some pics and I'll see what I can do!

Greg (aka 'BaldGuy') kindly sent me some spare centre caps, so I've got some black and blue laurel wreath caps to try out :)

What do we reckon of this now?

I think I'll put them on for a while and see how they look fitted to the car. If I decide I prefer the originals, it's only a few minutes to swap them back over :o

Many thanks for the votes - feedback on the caps fitted to the wheel now would be welcomed :)

Cheers,

Will

In fact, if any of our resident photoshoppers has a moment spare, could someone perhaps try a black centre cap fitted into one of the pictures from the gallery?

Hard to tell without the bolts and tyres :) Post some pics on the car, I'm tempted but still not sure. The finish to the wheel looks great, most envious.

ps. what size are they? are the OE?

Don't like them Will .... sorry .... :o

I have 4 chrome star ones you can try if you like ...

Although , i would lean ( personally ) towards the bog standard painted ones with the raised star ...

Let me know if you want to try them ..

Thanks for the offer H, I might take you up on that :)

Need to get some new tyres fitted and then see how they look on the car

I've wondered about centre cap choice before, perhaps they are best standard after all? :o

Hi Ade,

Yep they're standard/OE 2.3-16/2.5-16 wheels.

Forged alloy (rather than cast) and '7J' wide. 15" diameter. I think the standard 124 wheels are cast and 6.5J wide, yours may be wider as yours is a sportline?

Sod the wheels, you have a NES hooked up under the telly, im not alone in my AV geekyness!
