Hi,

I've looked in the manual, which doesn't give me a grade, just a Mercedes reference number, and looked online and there seems to be a few grades offered. The search here doesn't seem to be working so I'll ask.

Which oil, 0-W40, 5-W30 or 5W-40?? And how much of it do I need, is it 8 Litres?

The engine is at 82,000 miles.

Thanks.

Hello i-C,

The M272 engine requires oil that meets specification MB229.5 and the huge list of solutions is here. Note that 5w-40 options predominate and should be fine in your location. Your selection may be based on availability, cost and whim!
I am pretty sure that the sump capacity is indeed 8 litres.

Regards, lim.

Here's a link to Mobil, enter your reg number to find the one they recommend along with the quantity. There is usually an alternative listed too. (Dependant upon engine type).

Which Oil for my Car? - Mobil? UK & Ireland

Other manufacturers also provide the same web links.
