Hi,

I searched but the search just gives a white page.

I'm about to buy a load of service items to do an interim service on my car.

Which engine oil is recommended? When selecting 229.5 grade oils (I think from memory that's what it says in my manual) from the oil site I'm using, it offers me several grades.

0W-30
5W-40
10W-40
0W-40

Which of these is recommended?

Thanks.

Thanks, Shell Helix Ultra 5W-40 Fully Synthetic is ordered (complies with 229.5), along with new plugs and oil filter.

That's my Saturday afternoon sorted. :bannana:

That's strange. For my W208 CLK 320 the oil specifier search engine in the Mobil website states 0W-40.

Yep Shell Helix Ultra 5W-40 is fine, thats what i use on the v6

It's a different engine, the M272 wasn't out in 1998. It's based on your M112? But maybe they changed the specification.

0W-40 is one of the suggestions for mine too, but I've gone with the 5W-40. It's one of the suggested oils on OpieOils and they've never let me down, it was just choosing from the few grades it suggested I wanted help with.

Either way it's better than the chocolate currently keeping my engine slippery. :(

Yes the M272 is based on the M112 but I think it has a lower power output and only 1 spark plug per pot or am I getting confused with the 320 V6 that was used in the W203 and onwards? 0W-40 and 5W-40 are not significantly different to each other so I guess its okay to use both.

I thought the W208 320 V6 (M112) had 218bhp? The M272 E30 is 231bhp.

Yes it's only one spark per pot, which I'm pleased about as I've just bought six.

Oil change done, 6 new plugs, new oil filter.

Was all very easy and straight forward. Nothing seized or difficult. :)
