I either need to find the phone to fit this cradle and buy one on eBay (I'm thinking I can get a PAYG sim card, and divert calls to it when I'm on the move), or tackle taking the facia apart to disconnect and remove it, because its dog ugly.

I quite fancy using the controls on the steering wheel to use it handsfree, after years of either ignoring calls or breaking the law. I dont fancy paying £200 to have blue teeth, I've spent enough this month.

BTW, will it charge when I'm on the move?

Looks like an aftermarket Nokia kit. It wont be connected to the steering controls. Is there no sticker with a model or part number on the back.

Edit it is one of the below:

The above cradles are usually connected to the Nokia CK-7W which has bluetooth. Try turning on the car ignition and searching for bluetooth devices, passcode is 0000.

Fairly sure it is for a 6310i

Thnks for that, I'll get one off eBay.

I dont understand the comment that it wont work with the controls on my steering wheel, what would be the point of all the wires if it didnt connect to the Comand system? I'm pretty sure the car would only have bluetooth if I installed it, there is no mention in the users guide.

The car is a 200 CL500, the wheel controls are just to pick up and disconnect a call, you dial using the Comand keypad.

Yes, as others posted it looks like a Nokia 6310i one.

Also as posted, it's highly unlikely to work with the steering controls. The original Mercedes factory kits do but this wouldn't. It will allow 'handsfree' calls but it won't integrate with COMAND or the steering controls, but it will charge the phone.

The car kit is not a factory installed kit that is why it wont work with the steering controls.

This is an aftermarket install of a Nokia car kit and the cradle is not for 6310! There are two models of cradles shaped liked the one you have. Look on the back for a model number to identify the one you have. These cradles were normally installed with Nokia CK-7W car kit which DOES have bluetooth. Follow the instructions I posted before to check.

Seems to be something up with the links I posted before so just copy and paste the below into your browser. It lists the models of phones compatible with the cradle. The 6310 cradle is longer and a different shape.

Did you even look at the links I posted?

Yes I did, it does look the same, shall I ignore the posts that tell me its for a 6310i then?

As I suggest remove the cradle and take a look on the back for the model number as that is the only way to tell for sure which of the two cradles you have. And check for the bluetooth connection as you most likely do have it.

You most likey have this car kit: http://www.nokia.co.uk/find-product...ries/car-kits-accessories/nokia-car-kit-ck-7w with one of the two above cradles.

It is not for the 6310i and similar phones if you ask me. Must be one of those NPUK posted, a 6320i type of a phone would likely fit but you had better have a look at the part identification.

Im suprised you didnt try to bluetooth it yet. It defo looks like CK-7w and then most of phone with pair with this kit. Frined has one in his W210 and its really good. Your might be connected to car speakers or have additional speaker installed somewhere. Try it first before you do anything else. It might turns out you ready to use any bluetooth phone you want.

I wish that were the case, but my mobile detects no bluetooth in the car with the ignition switched on. Sadly there is no sticker or number on the back either. That said I tried to remove the cradle from the bracket, and somone has mullahed the torx screws, no doubt by trying the wrong size, or a philips driver.

So, my options are identify the right phone, remove it, or ignore it.

There is a speaker and a mike for hands free, that doesn't look like MB kit to me, it looks like the one for the Nokia kit as posted by npuk. That seems to be compatible with the following mobiles:

Do you know how to pair a bluetooth device to your phone, have you ever done it before as your saying there is no bluetooth but you think you have the kit I linked too which does have bluetooth.

See where the cable from the cradle leads too see if you can find the control unit and see what model car kit it is.

+1. Sounds like you have a kit ready to use. Check Nokia web for compatibility with your current phone. Its possible it need updating. Ask one of your firends with different phone and scan it again. It really sound like you have CK-7W installed.

PS. Can you take a pic of this speaker you have?
