Seek recommendations over decent wax for dark coloured cars.

Use Dodo Purple Haze Pro and love it but wonder if there are better/value for money products out there that I am missing out upon.

Always hand apply with an applicator and remove with microfibre - anyone use a DA?

Poorboys backhole then Poorboys blue natty paste wax. Very easy to put on and off and makes black e shine.

Have the Blackhole but never rated it. Probably - my poor technique.

However, happy to take a forum members advice and buy some natty paste wax to complement and give it a go.

Open minded for additional member recommendations.

I tried the Blackhole but didn't find it gave that deep a shine, certainly helped disguise scratches and swirls though.

Try Collinite 915 wax, gives a deep gloss to black/dark paint and lasts really well

Blackhole glaze followed by Sonax NP wax with Sonax BSD to finish off look at the photos of mine which is azurite blue

Blackfire Gloss Enhancing Polish > All Finish Paint Protection > Midnight Sun Paste Wax

Great on any colour but exceptional on darker colours.

Other than being a little dearer than in the States price wise, this has got to be the best 'system' out there in terms of quality & price.

collinite every time and cheap.

I always find collinite Good for winter protection but you can't get the gloss I like to see in summer. Currently 2 of our cars are wearing collinite one wearing sonax and one wearing Swissvax Concours. The Sonax is by far the deeper gloss and gives better beading and is the cheapest of them all. Wouldn't use in winter though as nothing beats collinite for lasting protection

I am going to buck the trend and go for Turtle Wax Colour Magic (black) topped of with Autosmart Topaz. The former is very good at hiding paint swirls and the latter gives very good protection. Both are easy to apply and remove and leaves my black RR with a wet-look finish.

You can use something like Chemical Guys V7 sealant in place of the Topaz for the same effect but doesn't give the same longevity of protection in my experience. When testing the Topaz, I became bored after six weeks mid-winter so I applied another coat even though it was still beading like day one.

TCM & T applied by hand with damp song applicator and all buffed off with microfibre cloths.

I have always used Harley wax gives a good deep shine and long lasting protection

Collinite 845 get's my vote, purely because it's easier to apply than the Collinite 476 paste wax but lasts just as long.

Not overly sure about applying 'polish' too often. Wax...as much as you like. Well sort of.

If it's a light polish by hand like Autoglym Super Resin or similarly light, you could in theory do it every weekend but it would be pointless.

Hand polish every 6 months to give it a shine and then apply some wax/sealant protection over the shine. Can re-wax every 3 months or more if it's a good wax which will maintain/protect the shine.

You could try a show glaze if theys minor swirls then top off with a wax/sealant. Personnally i like angelwax and soft 99 wax and sealants. In summer if its warm i'll use poorboys nattys wax as its easy off in direct sunlight with a good gloss

Generally "correct" with either Scholl or Meguairs and then glaze and wax.

Currently use Dodo Juice as wax coat, which is great but does not seem to last.

It may be simply be down to the fact that I (hand)wash the car fortnightly and am "stripping" the wax coat off.

If you are not doing so already, you need to be using a pH-neutral shampoo for your fortnightly wash. It will minimise the stripping of your lovingly applied protection. There are plenty of shampoos available from the more specialist brands like Bilt Hamber but for ease of availability Halfords stocks one of the best products on the market and it is currently included in its 3 for 2 promotion.

Meguiars Gold Class Car Shampoo and...

Collinite 915 is specifically formulated for dark colours and works exceptionally well. Killerwaxx Carnauba Paste Wax I have found is equally as good but applies a whole lot easier and removal is also better. Massive 14oz tin is impressive.

But almost twice the price of Collinite...

Quite cheap compared to Auto Finesse Spir200 Spirt Car 5ml at £99!

Killerwaxx is massive in the US and used at SEMA car show all the time - as the owner only ships within the US and only recently starting to franchise out, it is relativity unknown over here, but for me certainly pips the post over Collinite.
