Which Windscreen Washer fluid additive should I use?

Now this doesn't effect me having a 202, but I think perhaps the newer mercs have the fan type water jets? They sorta squirt the water out in a fan shape, covering a wider area of the screen. Anyways, unless the correct type of washer fluid is used in those, it can lead to frequent blockages. I belive the correct fluid cleans as its used, don't ask me how... this all comes from mechanic housemate :D

I tended to use the cheap blue type, you can smell it in the cabin when its sprayed, and it seems to eat up my wiiper blades, have to change them much more often. no more blue stuff for me!

I am converted to the MB stuff now. Remember to buy the red and blue bottles (the blue is the winter anti-freezing agent).

Same here.

However, 4 small red bottles and a blue (anti freezing agent) and I was stripped of about £19 in the week. Pricey stuff.

I got a nice black Mercedes carrier bag though :D

:D  Living on the English Riviera we certainly do not have any frost and it has been a while since it rained. ;)

I am still using cheap blue, but have discovered a trick.

Autoglym Glass polish says you should use this after washing the car on the windscreen BUT also to clean the wiper blades with the Polish. I gave them a quick wipe over and it really made a difference.

if you have heated washer jets then you need to use a washer fluid that will not dry out and block the jets. So Fairy or dishwasher fluid or anything with salt is a bit daft. just had to replace both washer jets on an Audi - been using water + an industrial detergent for 30 years and no problems until Audi - which has heated jets.
