Why is my car not selling...?

Have you checked what similar ones are being put up for sale for on Autotrader and eBay? Perhaps even better to see if any auctions for similar have closed and at what level. I've looked at your ad a few times and it's a decent car so I suspect the money's too strong.

What you paid two years ago is pretty irrelevant now to be honest.

You've got a nice car, however it doesn't have COMAND.

If I was looking to buy an W211 E320CDI Sport COMAND is a must for me.

As above, check what similar cars are on the market for (age, mileage, spec etc).

Mine is the cheapest facelift model - the next one is £7800 and that has about 25k more miles on the clock..

i just need to free up the cash hence priced it to sell..but nothing..

Money... the average person doesn't have any and those that do will more then likely by a new car on finance. Its a waiting game sadly the only things that sell fast are small cheap run arounds I pass numerous 2nd hand car garages on the way to work and they have the same stock week after week.

Wants another K off the price IMHO

Have you tried We Buy Any Car.com really they're not as bad as you'd think. In my experience they pay tge price you see in screen if you're honest about the condition. Nothing to lose.

I used to buy new cars on finance. They spent most of their time cushioned in my garage.
because I didn't want car door dinges and the atttraction of "the have nots with keys"
My New toyota Celica got a lovely "key strip" all along the passenger side
Now I buy an old Merc. Car door dinge (who cares!) the have nots -they are not interested
I believe every BMW car has had some sort of damage to the bonnet because of owning a BMW -so my BMW owner friends say

Its nice to own a nice looking car - but I think you have to look at the pro's & cons

the older 3.0litre V6 diesel is not so sought after by those who know - the I6 diesel is favoured - far better mpg - in addition the following toys are important: full leather heated seats, Sat Nav, DVD, imho, then there is price: as a private seller you will find it hard to sell above the price asked for by a dealer - colour is also important black greys and silvers favoured - i'm not a dealer - just been round the world a bit - well only three quarters

I've just sold our BMW which was a 520D, 2007 facelift, but with nearly 150K on the clock.

It was not a nice experience. Timewasters and chancer's about everywhere. I eventually sold to a timewaster who I pushed up in price a little. He tried to knock me on everything, including the lack of a spare wheel. It had runflats.

I also think you are a little pricey.

The price is dictated by the amount buyers are willing to pay, not by what you want or guide books may indicate I'm afraid. If you are receiving offers around 5k then that is the market price.

Are merc's that bad at holding there value?

That's not the problem.

I don't think you're too far out with your valuation of £7k, but your advert comes across as a little bit desperate and that's not a good selling point.

Factor that in with no Comand, I think you'll just have to bide your time.

Saloons are hard to shift, if it was an estate it would fly out.

Have to admit I looked at it. £5k - £6k felt about the right ballpark for me.

Indeed...

Small/medium-size-engined diesel estates sell like hot cakes.

Large-engined petrol saloons are notoriously difficult to shift.

A clean E320CDI or E350CDI estate will always sell...

Hi

For a car of that age expect to lose £2k or so a year in depreciation. You have had it 2.5 years.

Do the sums, offers of 5 to 6 k might be close.
Previous model Mercs drop fast.

The longer you keep it, the less it becomes worth. If you really just want to 'free up the money', put it on eBay as an auction with no reserve. That will tell you what it's REALLY worth; you won't like it (harsh, but true), but it will sell.
