Why is my car not selling...?

I was looking for W211 for long time, I could afford facelift, say 2006 -07 cars for around 6-7k budget. But after seen that 2003 -04 cars are going for half so decided to save me some cash.
Picked 2003 Avantgarde E320 CDI and paid £3.5k.
I think the main reason why is difficult to sell face lifted w211 as people prefer to buy cheaper older w211 and bang private plate on it, as there is not significant change in facelift.

10.5k > 5k in 2.5 years?
That's a pretty good depreciation rate IMO.

There are 'newer' iterations since yours of course, and every one hurts residuals.

Given the demise of large petrol cars that are neither 'fun' nor 'frugal', I would trade it ASAP.

There's just no money around at the moment tried selling my harley sportster on eBay an get silly offers less than the dealers are offering...

I have a c180 but I'm looking to buy an S class as I only do about 5k miles a year

Hope you manage to find a buyer

You may also fall into no mans land price wise. Just all little too much for a 100,000mile 6/7 year old car with 5 previous owners[including you] It may be a risk perception thing which by paying £5000 but budget for £2k repairs at the same time a buyer might get round. - don't need it you're quids in ---- need it and you're covered. Dealers selling the car will offer some sort of warranty- which for the unscrupulous end of the trade may not actually be worth very much- but still partly overcomes potential buyers fears. You might have more success if you explore the option of offering an after market warranty [ at your cost] with the car. Either that or drop your price a bit more.

The OP is selling a diesel.

Apologies if your post was in response to a previous comment in this thread. :)

Yes, my mistake.

But the comment is still true, and applicable to inefficient diseasals too.
