Window tinting...

Have you got a photo of the 'gradiated' look?

You can't really see the graduated look, you just get the benefit of a heavy tint on the rear and a slightly less van-like look between the front a rear windows. Having said that, I have just taken some pictures and on the camera they look much more harsh than when seeing them in person.

Here is the picture anyway but I don't think it really shows it properly.

I think it looks great but did it for a few reasons.

a) Just about to have a baby and wanted sun/UV protection without having to use stick-on blinds.

b) When wife is on her own in car (or with baby shortly) she feels more secure.

c) I guess there is less of a chance of glass shattering everywhere in a side impact.

I would certainly do it again if I needed to.

Had ours done for the same reason, shame the summer never really came

got em done, will post pics as soon as i buy a new damn data cable for the phone..

On my estate I fitted blinds to all the windows rear of the B pillar. They are great because it looks like the car has a very dark tint but the blinds can be simply lowered in bad weather :)

my boyfriend's on the vectra-c forum, and there's a company called oesunshades that do shades that cover the whole window, they look really nice, like tinted windows, and aren't as expensive! we're just getting some for his new VXR8, can't wait!

You can't just make a statement like that and walk away!!?? :D

Tell us more!!

PS I'm a Vauxhall fan too.

Just thought I'd add my observations on this.

I have 35% on both sides and 20% on the rear screen. According to the guy who does my tints (he did my A2 before), 75% is the legal limit.

I admit that the 20% rear at night makes it nigh on impossible to see a cyclist with no lights in town, when looking rearwards. It's not a problem on the motorway and the auto-dimming rear veiw mirror still works.

The only reason for the 20% rear is that he didn't have a sheet of anything else bigger (at the time). He offered me the choice to wait for his next delivery of 35% but I said "fit it". So it's down to me.

All I would say to any prospective "tinters", is that the next car I have will be 50%. I think this is a reasonable tint, although still illegal.

My last two cars have been 35%, but having seen my man's 50% fitted, I think this is a good compromise.

Incidentally, over the last 3 years I've never had my collar felt by the law despite a couple of occasions when I know he's looking at me and I'm expecting him to pull me up. Strange.

Oh and also, I presume it can be removed it required?

I don't like window tints, purely personal, they work in limited circumstances as follows:-

1/ You live in Florida
2/ You are an A list celebrity, your life would be hell if you are seen in public, you may or may not live in Florida.
3/ Black Range Rovers particularly in Sunny southern Amercian states.
4/ Black vehicles in general, still subjective though
5/ Stretch limousines, because you can't actually do anything to make these look more kitsch.
6/ Any model of Hummer (see point 5)
7/ You are known as P Diddy or similar AKA variety and the tint is required as part of an image, possible combined with point 2 above and maybe even point 1.
8/ You have that rare skin condition that doesn't allow exposure to direct sunlight (hopefully you've moved from Florida if that's the case).
9/ All Ford Capri's with an engine capacity of less than 2.0 litres. must be combined with named green sun strip though.

Is there such a thing as a tongue in cheek smiley?
