Wiper Blades - OEM Vs Aftermarket

ive got a single valeo areo, and its ALOT better than the aftermarket aero ones

Wipers

I have stopped using Rain X as I prefer to use my wipers at alll times now. Trying out these wipers for a while. Don't know if they work or were an option on Mercedes though:D

What do you clean them with?

I have an E-Class and about 2 years ago I fitted a set of the silicone wiper blades I sourced off eBay for about £20. They have been perfect, still quiet, clean the whole screen with no bits missed.

One tip I had for cleaning glass came from an optician, get one of the spray bottles and fill with water with 10% Savlon antiseptic (comes in a blue bottle similar to detol). Works a treat both inside and out plus I clean the wiper blades every now and then to get all the crud off the blades. Don't be shy with it and really cover the insides of the screen and work in with clean cloth or what I use is the wide tissue paper. It will lather up then start to dry out, as this happen change to a dry cloth and buff. If the screen is dirty or you can't get a smear off then spray direct onto a clean cloth and wipe the area then buff.

I've used this for many months now, also on the house windows (glass and UVPC surrounds), costs pennys to make and glass sparkles afterwards.

that aero style wiper is the worst thing i've ever bought in my life for a car. OEM all the way.

Some aero blades seem good and others seem bad. When people say they have had a good or bad experience of them, it would be useful to hear which ones they have used.

On Tuesday i went to a leading midlands aftermarket retailer-Oscott,they quoted me £25.50 for a pair bosch fronts for my 2001 w203 ,the Coventry Merc dealer round the corner offered them at £28..went for the original merc ones for a few quid more.

It seems there's not much of a margin on MB wipers, as they're relatively difficult to get a discount on compared to other parts.
