Woman, 84, dies in A1 'wrong way' crash

Grown ups should be capable of making a decision about their fitness to drive.
In fact most drivers manage to make the choice in good time. The test could also validate the driving of people that know that they are not really on the ball.

The suggestion that we introduce old person testing is yet more infantilisation of adults, failing to trust our fellow citizen to make sensible decisions while having hardly any accidents to back up the imposition and costs.

I am against the idea.

there is too much nanny statism.

Why have any laws at all then?

Everybody should be responsible enough to make a rational decision at the time.

Only some doesn't.

We have too much law, the police can charge anybody anywhere with something.

We are drifting into an authoritarian mindset when it comes to health and safety. Nobody is really expected to make thoughtful decisions any more.

We have the safest roads in the world, is that not enough?

Ever heard the phrase - too much of a good thing?

I am no fan of over board legal system.

All I am trying to point out, is that a state of anarchy and complete freedom to do what you like, when you like it, wouldn't do anything good. Not to anyone.
