Would this be a poor buy? C63 content

Yes i knew that would happen, specify you only want a yes or no answer and they may oblige....

It’s going through their service assessment at the moment, if there’s nothing horrifying I’m thinking of putting a deposit down.

Just wish it’d had a service in ‘19 when it was MOT’d.

That looks like a nice one. I had a black 2013 C63 estate for many years, lovely car. I like the fact that it has MPS4S tyres. Check water ingress from sunroof, I had water sloshing around under the floor at one point (check carpets). I would also check any leaks from the suspension, geo, and underside damage, because they are used at high speed under full estate loads. Also make sure there is no sign of a misfire, my sporadic misfire took literally years to cure.
It looks like a good one and these are fantastic cars with a kind of rawness.

Service dept has had their time with the car- all looks good, suspension and brakes in good condition, no leaks from anywhere - but one of the alloys has cracked and been welded. I'm concerned that I don't know who did this job, how well they did it, and would likely want to replace the wheel.

The salesman is going to contact Mercedes Service about the '19 service, but he's not that hopeful that he'll get an answer.

He will, they will be asked to provide proof they are a trader - no hardship.

Buy it if it checks out, Amg have not made a better car since.

On the rims front - would anyone know what a set of four OEM 16 spoke 19" AMG wheels for a 2013 C63 would cost?

Someone more knowledgeable will be able to confirm, but I think these are NLA new from MB

As above, no longer available.
I would ask my local main dealer if they could source a set from any of the UK main dealers that may have an unsold set in stock.
Part numbers in the link below.
You may be lucky and get a pristine set from a careful owner from eBay.

Fanx, more knowledgeable bloke
👌

Thanks chaps. It does seem a little silly in some ways to replace rims that seem to have a very poor reputation for cracking with the same thing, although I do also always want to have the "right" rims for a car.

is there a different rim that people move to rather than replacing the OEM 19's?

I'm test driving the car on Tuesday, if I get on with it then I'll put a deposit down I think.

You don’t want those wheels - they’re terrible. They crack like cookies and never look clean unless you like cleaning them on a daily basis. As well as the sunroof I’d check out the aircon to make sure it all works ok - in these cars it’s a well known weak spot and an expensive (front end off) fix. Seems like you’re heart is set on it so good luck and hope it goes well.

A superb upgrade to your c55 assuming you like it.

Also check the nearside cam cover for oil leaks as its a matter of when it leaks, you will smell it 😉

If not the OEM 16 spokes then what?

Ideally close enough to the existing wheels to allow use of the current Michelins.

I shouldn’t have sold that - but I did, so no use crying over spilt milk.

I had an E63 for around a year and whilst faster and so forth I preferred driving the C55. Gearbox in the E63 was a totally different and better thing mind you.

I’m hoping the big atmo V8 in the C63 will be more similar to the C55 than the E63.

Yes c55 to modern e63 was a downgrade.

I agree with the 2 posters above yours, in my 7 year daily drive ownership I had both AC and cam cover issues too! If you can find evidence that they have been fixed, before, all the better.

Having said that, from my experience, I would happily stick with those wheels, I had them as you can see from my profile picture. I had one crack, once, and one other rim was no longer airtight after I curbed the wheel, easy but my fault. But otherwise no problem at all and I did drive the car daily as I say for school runs and business in and around London for seven years. And they look great especially on the wagon.

As for hard to clean… They are a breeze compared with the faux centre lock 19/20s in Matt black on my new car. Which display every grain of brake dust as if it’s an art installation.

Nice set of Vossens? (Photo courtesy of badgx)
