Just p/exch my 2014 C63 for an 18 month old A45 S plus+. This car is totally awesome. It goes like a rocket. I can’t believe how much horsepower this thing has from a 2 litre engine. Before I bought it I looked at the Audi S3 which is a quicker car and I also looked at the Golf R. I didn’t like the Audi interior and the same went for the Golf. So glad I got the A45, it’s taken me back to the can’t wait to drive it days again like when I had my first car all them years ago.

Nice.....How many horses is it and what's the 0 to 60?

Probably meant the RS3, which would be a direct competitor for the A45. S3 is A35 territory.
Ah yes absolutely, but a 5 pot and more developed than the a45 IMO

It definitely stands out as a powerplant, especially now BMW have dropped the 6pot from the M140i. I did have barmy notions about putting one into the Superb 😆

We've had that sort of performance from 4cyl in the past (Evo FQ400, for example), just not with the tractability and everyday usability that we have now.

I used to own one of these 45 cars prior to the release of this model and used to follow the rivalry between the two closely. At the time the 45s was released, it was sp far ahead of the then RS3 in so many respects.
the newer rs3 is rated sub 400hp so still slightly lower than the 45s (416bhp) but not by much despite having a bigger displacement. torque is the same. Some prefer the sound of the 2.5l but AMG changed the game with their exhausts which have brutal pops and bangs etc which was later neutered by the DPFs.

RIDE COMFORT HANDLING ETC
The audi is more comfortable and nice ride but suffers on the handling front. The Audi steering feel Is dead vs the a45s.
The 45s has a decent ride but better handling and chassis too.

I recall that AUDI largely sorted out the terminal understeer considerably with fancy torque vectoring on the latest iteration of RS3 and it may even corner faster and overall could be slightly faster. The steering feel on the 45 is much better than the numb Audi and feels more connected to the road. The Audi can still feel slightly front wheel drive.

It's possible the folks at Audi can possibly extract a better 0 to 60 than the a45s can manage , and it will be more comfortable, but on the sport and handling side the a45s is the one to go for. Many people buy audis because they make great dailies and on the flip side people like AMGs because of their attitude and more engaging drive.

Personally I'd pick the a45s but I may be in the minority when comparing it to the new rs3

Sorry PPF not DPF lol 😆 unless they're making diesel variants

I was an Audi driver for over 20 years, and had both the original 8P and the pre-facelift 8V variants of the RS3.

While they were amazing cars in terms of power and comfort they were not the first word in dynamic capability. When I was looking for a new car three years back it was sort-of between times for the RS3 and the face-lifted 8V was out of production but the 8Y was not yet out. So options were somewhat limited but I landed on a CLA45S+.

The CLA is faarrr more dynamic than either of the RS3s I had (not experienced the very latest with torque vectoring) and a much, much more special place to sit, as well.

Enjoy your A45S @C63STEVE!

Stunning that. More photos please. Especially of the interior and performance seats. 😍

As a comparison, the site Fastest Laps shows less than a 1.6 second per lap difference in lap times where both cars have been timed.
