Hi

After reading THIS thread, I was thinking it would be quite interesting for member who have been on here for a few years now (say 3 or more?) to post a quote of their 1st ever post on the forum. Mine brings back some memories when I was purchasing my CLK.

Please post yours! You can find it by doing an advanced search on your username and search by all "threads started by", and going to the last page.

Hi

i finally did it and sold my much loved Mondeo!

Good news is that i sold it at a bargain price to my sister in law so i still get to see it occasionally....

BUT!!! i dont think i am too sad because this is the car i have now bought:

pics are here:

http://www.pbase.com/merc_clk/inbox

Sorry pics are poor quality as they were taken with camera phone.

spec is:

320 CLK convertable.

3.2 V6 engine (215bhp), power roof, 5 speed auto, full silver leather, leccy seats, heated seats, air con, trip computer, parktronic, cruise, 18" AMG alloys, metallic blue & blue hood, electric rear headrests, + a few more odds and ends! Forgot to check if it had an autochanger tho, but i will prob fit an MP3 player in anyway.

i already have a few mods in mind.... auto dimming mirror, footwell lights....

Anyone any idea how much a CLK auto dimmer is from a dealer?

bad news is i have to wait until this friday to pick it up!

Also going to get a private plate for it too.

It comes with a years full parts & labour warrenty with any mercedes dealer, and if it gets nicked/totalled in 3 years i get the invoice price back

:bannana:

Hi Derek-here is mine, joined on my birthday too (looking at stats). Best present I ever got myself :D

Hi all.

I would like to introduce myself. I am Stephen, 23 and live in Helensburgh and work in admin in Glasgow

I am looking to buy a 2005 E220cdi Saloon. I currently drive a BMW X5 4.4i (2004) and used to drive an X5 3.0i.

I know the E won't be as powerful as the 4.4i X5, but IMO it is much more suited to my budget, and the X5 4.4i has been a massive dissappointment

When I test the E220 what should I be looking for?

I have heard bad tales of Merc reliability, and have heard E classes from 2002-2003 can be iffy, but will an 05 car/55 car be better.

The E class was highly recommended to me by my old man who hired one from enterprise, it was "excellent to drive" comfortable, fast enough so it got me thinking.

Here is the car I am looking @ http://www.mercedes-benz.motortrak.com/detail?template=%2Fmb_national_06%2Fhitlistdetail&vid=13606433&engine=2&transmission=2&transmission=3&transmission=5&transmission=6&transmission=7&priceto=25000&yearfrom=2004&yearto=2007&mileageto=30000&dgroup=217&c_dealer=6032&lang=en&country2=GB&searchtype=matrix&mbid=422&model6=3043&model6=2970&model6=1845&model6=494&model6=744&model6=226&model6=3000&model6=228&model6=1846&model6=2967&model6=495&model6=858&model6=514&model6=5219&model6=4189&bodystyle6=1&franchise6=26&vids=13649235%2C13569873%2C13687499%2C13606433%2C13478938%2C13504783%2C13693526%2C13504786%2C13698129%2C13184388%2C13412787%2C13343994%2C13343993%2C13344011%2C13694106&vidindex=3

I would be very grateful if people would respond to me with their thoughts.

Being older than many members of this forum, I had to go a very long way back to find my first post. Anyway, here it is:

I have today taken delivery of a most estimable horseless carriage, the invention of a gentleman in Germany, Herr Daimler. It really is a most wonderous thing and draws great crowds wherever I travel.

Naturally, the modding must commence without delay. Already I have fitted some "club pedals" though, with the accelerator mounted on the centre of the steering wheel, I found this to be less successful than I had initially hoped.

Have any other readers yet placed their horseless carriages on a dynameter? I am most enthused by the prospect of gaining additional motive power. My great friend, Henry Royce, tells me that I might get an additional one quarter of a horsepower through judicious fettling of the engine!

"Ive just seen a W210 with rust, is this normal?" :D :D :D

I cant find mine at the mo, as it only lists 500 threads, anyone know if this can be changed?

I am trying to install an mp4 player to my command aux inputs, but where would I find them!?
I have phono type inputs on the mp4 player(One white, one red and one yellow) the command has TV and video capability.
I would also like to install rear screens, anyone got any suggestions?
Thanks in advance
Doh! didnt even introduce myself!

Gosh! I used to post about cars! :ban:

C-Class to B-Class
I am thinking of changing - should I be put in a padded cell? Need more carrying abililty and my C-class (CD220 CDi Auto AV) is almost out of warranty.

Drove the B180 CDi but not impressed with engine at all. Suspect the B200 CDi may be more refined? Mind you, does not have to be diesel. Anybody have experience of the petrol variants?

Any input/advice appreciated

Thanks

Think I've found Ian Walker's

Hello

So here I am, stuck on this boat with what seems like 2 of everything. Keep telling Noah that what he REALLY needs is a W124 but he won't listen. What can I do!!!

hi,

Im new here, hope you can help, Ive just got a 260e 1986, had the electrics checked but for some reason the winscreen wipers dont always work, its very intermitent could it be a fault in the screen on the steering wheel.

One other thing would MERCEDES 123 SERIES 200 230E Wing mirrors fit this car

Thanks

Paul

turned out to be a dodgy fuse

I used the search facility and the oldest thread I can find with a post from me in it actually happened about 18 months after the forum started due to new forum software and new database.

No idea what my first post was, probably a test thread before the forum went live :)

Here's mine:) 5 years ago!!!!!

How did you search for it, I can only search 500 of my threads, or did you search for a subject?

Hi

I'm new to the forum and have just returned to MB ownership after a few years on the Volvo darkside.

The car is a 04 C320 cdi with Comand. I have got my phone working through Bluetooth and Comand, but have become exasperated at having a wire snaking out messing up the dash, particuarly as the phone has the battery life of a nat.

I have bought a cradle which also charges the phone, but does not do handsfree, which will remain through Bluetooth and Comand. I was hoping to have the power (which is a 12v + and negative connection through the lighter, but my local Indie who I have used in the past seems to think that might upset the car.

I could just use the charger plug that comes with the phone, but that kind of defects the object! There must be a solution as the after maker car kits can still be fitted. I haven't asked the dealer as I suspect that it would be we don't know anything about that sir!

Any suggestion would be gratefully received.

David Powell

Managed to get the year of my car wrong in my first post!

Found it, my very 1st post on the 21st May 2003, I must have lurked for a week after joining on the 15th:

HERE

8:07am

Hi, 1st post

Im after some darker rear clusters for my M-reg C-Class. as seen on the AMG cars and various other specs.

Anyone know the price from MB?

First thread started below:

Bobby Dazzler said:
Changed the pads today and had to draw off some excess brake fluid, and I was absolutely paranoid about spilling drops.

Done some research and found several sources (google.co.uk: brake fluid paint) that suggest that glycol-based (DOT 3 and DOT 4) brake fluid strips paint - as per normal thinking. However, also several sites suggest that silicone-based (DOT 5) brake fluid doesn't affect paint at all.

Any idea which would be used when the vehicle was being built, ie glycol/silicon DOT3/4/5?? (2003 ML270CDi)

All thoughts gratefully received, as usual.

Possibly first post below - dodgy spelling alert:

These guys seem highly regarded by Autocar for their BMW 330Cd. They list the C32 AMG on there website, so maybe worth a chat with them?

I think ???? this was the first thread I started back in Sept 2003. Eutags still appear to be in existence 6 years on ?
Has anyone used the german style number plates on their car??
They are supplied by a company at EUTags.com - Shop They have a disclaimer on their site about them not being street legal in the UK. Can any member shed some light on the subject. I think they are a great piece of detailing.
