Auto Express, recently put, in best cars for 2015 Mercedes-Benz at no 11.......gob-smacked that Skoda is at 3 and number 1 is Lexus, number 2 is Jaguar........

It doesn't surprise me at all. Modern mercs are junk,,,,,,

I followed a GLA (?) down the road just before dawn the other day and I thought I was following a Nissan or something Korean. Couldn't believe it was a Mercedes when I got up close and saw da badge.

Well had it been Nissan or something Korean it wouldn't have broken down and you never would have caught up with it :D

Have they not improved? I know they were pretty badly made in the naughties but thought they had upped their game in recent years?

Best cars 2015.

What a crap catagory, best for what?

Dogging?

Don't want to go off topic lewyboy, what's Dogging??

I quite like my modern Merc...better than an effing Skoda or Lexus. I've not owned a classic Merc mind.

Not surprised at all the top 3 are great marques. They've really upped their game. I have many friends that own these cars and on the whole are very happy with them.

I recently recommended a Skoda estate on a thread where the OP was asking for recommendations to replace his existing car. He was less than impressed by me suggesting such a car. Badge snobbery at its best.

It'd be great for 100 people to test 25 cars without knowing the make of car (never possible) but then people would judge the car, not the badge.

Certainly Jaguar deserve the spot in my experience; as Happytalk73 states, as a company they have really upped their game.

You may be right, but: how many modern Mercs have you owned?

I suppose I should have used an emoticom, as my tounge was firmly in my cheek as I typed that:D There's plenty of new/newer MB's I'd love to own:thumb:

Send a PM to Brucemillar.:D
I pm'd Bruce and asked if it was a bout a dog, as I have a little westie named Millie, but he couldn't stop laughing.......( only joking)

Did anyone see the Dogging episode of Peter Kay's 'Car Share'?

Had us in stitches.

Ant.

I have a Lexus, its a wee is250 but its the top SEL spec and has a fantastic mark levinson sound unit, i had loads of cars but this knocks the socks off all of them. I would like more oomph hence me considering a cl500.

Lexus have not really upped the ante, they have made quality cars for a long time (going back to the ls400 in fact), its just that for some reason people in western Europe snub the marque.

They do no car quite like a cl500, if they did i would not hesitate to buy one. I dont want a barge LS model, like a 460.

This car I have had is so reliable i have not seen my mechanic since i bought the car for an initial service in June 2014 to get plugs put on, all i need to do is fill it up with petrol.

If only all cars could be this reliable.
