guys. my access to this forum has been limited of late but i have taken a picture of a joint that has the split boot in the first picture.
the second picture is when the other end of the same rod goes. the aspect is with steering wheel on left lock and looking in from the rear of the wheel on...
... was reported on a health check from my local MB dealer. Just tonight I noticed it making a noise on hard right lock. Does £225 all in sound good or bad for this (2000 W215) and how urgent is it?
Just bought a Tow Sure bar for my ML320. Went to fit it, removed the middle cover, Lo and behold an original Oris Tow Bar and Electrics fitted by Mercedes when the car was new.
If I can find a 'tow ball neck' for this tow bar 'Type D137' it would save me alot of trouble and money.
Merc are replacing the ball joints on my forthcoming CL under the warranty.
Will this affect the wheel alignment and if so will they re-align the wheels under warranty ?
Cheers

I'm a recent owner of a 2003 w211 with 35K miles on the clock. I've been informed by a trustworthy mechanic that both front Ball joints need to be replaced and that its a common fault. I will be able to get them replaced under warranty.
My question is, will they go again after another 35K miles...
My Indiy said that the ball joints are showing some wear. He said no need to replace just yet...how much are these then? Don't forget London prices

I need to swap out the lower ball joints on my 202 C Class, last weekend I had the wheel off to suss out what was involved and the way the ball joint is bolted on seems to me as though other bits need to be removed to actually get if off, just undoing the two nuts would free it, but it...
Hi Folks,
I have a 1996 c180, and the front end feels as if it is skiting all over the road and when goin over a bump i can hear a bit of knock coming from the front end!!
Would this be a ball joint or a track rod end? The drag link control arm was replaced last year on it and i...
Slight knocking over uneven ground from front driver side. Whipped the wheel off and there's a fair bit of visible play from the lower ball joint. Got a pair of ball joints from Euro Car Parts (£36 inc.VAT) and set about changing them. Stupidly, despite seeing the taper on the new ones, I didn't...
Bit of advice needed on a W203 I'm looking at.
Previous owner had some work done on replacement bushes, ball joint and rear (? )tracking rods. He had it done at a local garage not the stealers.
Firstly, is this kind of thing normal on a W203 at that sort of low mileage.
Secondly, is it a...
Help again please,
My lovely car (C180 Elegance 1996) just failed MOT on both sides lower suspension arm having excessive play in a ball joint. Is this something major and can I possibly do it myself (the mechanic who did my MOT is going on holiday and won't be able to fit the car within 10...
Hi All
Have my NCT (MOT) today on my W220 S320, it failed the last time on an Offside Front (Right) Ball Joint, I've now had this replaced which I thought was responsible for the squeeking in that area but the squeeking is still there when I run over relatively minor bumps.
My Question, Is...
My W203 has only done 84,000 miles yet all of the above have gone. First on the offside and looks like now on the drivers.
Is this normal or another example of Mercedes poor build quality?
My 2002 W210 Estate needs a new lower ball joint on the offside front. I've got the part, but it looks a bit tricky to get a ball-joint splitter in there to get the old one off.
I'm assuming I'll need to use spring compressors before attempting to remove the joint (as is normally the case)...
Hi,
Just had my MOT done, passed :bannana: however I was advised that the driver side ball joint is showing abit of play. He advised me to inform my garage the next time I have my service done.
Should I have it changed ASAP or can I manage for a while. I currenlty do about 5K a year or...
Hello, my car is a 1998 c180 sport estate, 120k miles. At the last MOT i had a warning about one of the lower ball joints.
Both sides are knocking over bumps so i will renew both. However i'm not sure which one it means. There is an upper one which is part of the upper wishbone, then a lower...
My local dealers has just phoned to remind me our car is due for its MOT. They are collecting it tomorrow and will be carrying out a safety check on the front ball joints.
There has been one TSB about this which our vehicle had when it was serviced, but I am wondering if it is worth owners...
Hi all,
I have a 2003 e270d MB and while on the phone to my local dealer today, he told me that my car is due for a "Ball Joint" recall, something relating to the suspension.
I personally havent heard of this recall, anyone else taken their car in for this recall?
Cheers,
