My lack of an owners manual leads me to this question - When using the oil check, the comp tells me to 'observe waiting time' - what exactly does this mean? I would assume (maybe wrongly) that I've left it too soon between having the engine running and checking the level. If this is right, how...
Hi guys I'm trying to check the engine oil level on my 2003 S320cdi using the m/f steering wheel, I'm sure I'm doing it right but instead of checking the oil level I get a message telling me PERF.SERV.ONTIME although I'm still showing 3300 miles till next service, why oh why can't I have a...
Hello all!
Well, it's happened again - several years after my beloved low mileage W123 200T was nicked from the streets of London I've just got myself a 94 300SL 24 in bornite. Lovely car and great colour, off an active member here too.
Time to come back to the right side having been with...
Hi
I was wondering if it is possible to check if the ignition coils are good, how to test them?
My car is running very rough when stopping at the lights, sounds like some cylinder not firing.
Thank you
Not long after I got the E55 I tried to check the oil level...looked at the handbook and it says that I can check it via the OBC due to there not being a dipstick.....
Now, I tried this as instructed by the handbook and the "Oil level check" wasnt there!. thought at first it was just me BUT...
Hi, I want to check oil level in my gearbox but need a dip stick to do this, (factory option) has anyone got one ??? as i want to make one up but need to know measurement from the dip stick if anyone could provide me with the measurements that would be great.:dk:
I hope to buy a car in the near future, ideally a turbo diesel. Most of these type of cars come with various power outputs. So when looking on Autotrader I would like to check that the advertised car is indeed the correct bhp. It would be too easy to advertise a 90bhp car as a 130bhp car and add...
I called yesterday to get one of those oil dip stick, the person at the parts counter quoted me 55 pounds  for something that he said was really hard to use, differents marks etc.... Go figure? He then pass me to a mechanic advisor, a nice chap that I knew, and he just told me come over...
Onto another job on my list of maintenance tasks for my beloved S320!
For no good reason other than it seems like the right time to check I want to make sure that my diff has the correct amount of fluid into it (She's just turned 117K so it seems like a good bit of preventative maintenance)...
My 190E gets a bit hot (idling in traffic even when freezing it touches 105c on the gauge). I changed the thermostat and when moving the temperature is always at 85c or so.
So, for the viscous coupling for the engine fan - how can I check it or oil (?) it to make sure it works?
..and found it to be original and unused! :D
Inspired by someone mentioning here that the used MB they had bought still had the original kit I remembered to have a look.
I mean, thinking about it, it's not that surprising that it is still there but i somehow found it reasurring in my 10 yr...
A friend of the family has a very early 2001 W203 C240 (bought after seeing my W202 :D ) has asked me about checking the oil, how much oil, type is required.
From memory, the W203 (early ones) have an electronic dip stick right accessed from the dash display?
Anyone shed some light on it...
I'm confused (and it doesn't take much before someone chirps in!! :p )
I want to try to get my car to automatically give me a reading on the oil level. I can get to the part I need to be at on the display, but it says "please take note of the 5 minute delay" or words to that affect and I sit...
Hi,
I've got an APS 50 in an '03 E55. I've been reading a lot about upgrading it and although I'm tempted by the "cheap" Comand units I could buy on eBay (£200 - £300), can I just confirm it *is* a nightmare and not as easy as it seems ?
To go from APS 50 to Comand I would need to buy :
*...
Q1. Checking a gearbox... How do you check an auto box on a cheap car?
The missus has just sold her car, decided to pocket the cash and used the Jedi mind trick to convince me that the CLK should sit on the drive for her use (keeping mileage down) and I should spend about £500 to £800 on a...
Does anyone know if there is a website or any other point of information that I can consult to see whether my car (a 2004 W203) is/was subject to any recalls AND, if so, whether any problems have been rectified.
For example, I know that some W203's were recalled for a battery check. I would like...
After hearing about John's current battery problems, I was thinking that perhaps I should check up on the state of my battery now that we've entered the shorter days season.
For clarity, nothing is wrong (touching wood ) as far as I know, but better safe than sorry.
Now, in...
I am about to purchase a second hand Star Diagnostics System
it has the following set of cables,OBDII cable, 38pin cable, 4 pin cable and, Vito/Sprinter cable
The seller says:
"The unit uses DAS Aug/2007 (english) software. It can be updated with the dealer DAS DVD
This system works well and...
Is there a way to check the auto transmission oil on a W210 E240?
The handbook doesn't say, and I don't think I can see a dip stick for it
- perhaps I'm blind.
If it's low, will the dashboard scream at me?
This may seem a really stupid question.
I Always like to check fluid levels etc on my car W124 and regularly perform oil changes myslef.
But i have now gone and purchased an approved used W220 (04).
So as i was becoming familiar with the engine I pulled the dipstick to find its only a short red...
