Just had a service done at dealer. They recommended that the fuel gauge sensor should be replaced - parts quoted as the sender unit and flange coming to about £13, but labour cost was over £100
I didn't have time to wait so decided not get it done. Is this a reasonable cost - does it take a...
Hello all,
I am just in the process of buying a 1999 a140 Classic semi auto. I have been told that the fuel gauge does not work and is constantly at zero.
Is this a known fault and is their an easy fix...if not what is the worst case scenario.
Many Thanks
Ryan
Light / Bulb went out week or two ago. Bit annoying but the light from other bulbs still light up area although dimly.
Is it easy job to replace by oneself or better to get MB to do it? Any guides available etc?
Any advice much appreciated
Thanks
Hello Folks.
Having been down to London for Christmas, from Edinburgh, the '87 W124 did me proud, drove perfectly for the best part of 1000 miles, but on the last 50 miles, from Hawick up the A7 to Edinburgh the temp gauge didn't rise above 60 degrees, normally sits just above 80.
Why...

Does anyone else have a problem with their fuel gauge? When this is filled right up it all sorts of confusion follows - reading full, empty and everything in between for the first half of the tank and then seems to right itself.
I now estimate how much fuel I need to fill the tank and put it...
Hi Gurus,
I wonder if anyone has passed through this, I'm thinking of retrofitting outside temp. gauge in my E220 ? is it an easy DIY? does anyone know the parts required?
Thanks
P.S: I came across a retrofit of outside temp. gauge for a W202,I think it is different.
I've been meaning to fit an EGT gauge for a while just to see what the temperatures are in standard trim.
Also as my car doesn't have a fuel computer I thought it would be good to use as an indication of how much load the engine was under so would indicate how much fuel is being used, much...
An amber coloured symbol, like a sideways view of an engine, has suddenly appeared in my wife's rev counter, and my reading of the owner's manual seems to point to coolant temperature gauge failure, if I understand it correctly. Can anyone offer advice or comment from their experience, or maybe...
Hi, I've been trying to find in my handbook what the 'dot' is on my fuel gauge.
It looks like it could be a light? It's located just below the pivit point of the needle for the fuel gauge.
Hi on my 2003 CLK the outside temp gauge sometimes shows +39 and living in Scotland that is never going to happen very lucky to get +21, is there a way to reset it or do I have to get a new sensor. Thanks
Hello everyone,
found another issue with my W124 that left me stranded on the motorway.
It appears that my fuel gauge would indicate 1/4 tank left when in fact its bone dry. The weird part is the fuel warning light does come on even when the needle shows anywhere between 0-1/3...
Hello all,
I have the impression that my rattling catalytic converter cause my engine to overheat...
(I had a problem with my old Ford Probe, where the catalytic converter managed to somehow break and melt ... blocking the exaust and cause the car to overheat, not to red levels, but enough to...
Went to see a fella whose breaking a 300CE 24V, & whilst looking at my car & chatting he said he reckoned I must have the plug gaps wrong (rough idling). I told him that I had followed the 0.8mm detailed in the Haynes manual, and explained that the plugs in fact came pre-gapped at 0.8mm anyway...
