As so many members are asking about engine running temperatures at this time of year I thought it may be of use to post this helpful 'How To' guide for anyone thinking of undertaking the job themselves. The excellent guide is courtesy of a member on another MB Forum and I would just like to...
Ive noticed many post regarding temperatures & MPG being low so whilst the car was at the dealer having 2 Conti 5's fitted i got them to check the thermostat as the temperature was hovering around 65-70 most of the time & MPG noticeably low, dealer called me yesterday to confirm it needs a new...
Yikes! Is it really this much?:
EUROPART - Circoli Thermostat
I was expecting just £5 for a traditional thermostat thingy... The car's running at about 60c so I'm 99% sure it'll be a stuck stat.
Hi Guys,
The temp guage on my 211 generally reads about the 70 deg C mark. Occasionally it will go up to about 85 deg C (which I believe is where it should be?) but during most journeys it will sit at about 70.
So is this a fault with the stat or something else? I thought if you have a...
Hi guys,
My 2005 W203 C270 CDI is running on the cool side, it struggles to reach 60º -ish, most of the time now the cold weather is with us.
I've bought a new thermostat from ECP, but of course it only comes with the stat to engine rubber seal. Am I correct in assuming that I will need new...
It was a brisk 3 degrees C as I set off this morning, normally the car is delivering warm air within a mile of driving off and is showing around 90 degrees C on the display by the time I get to the A36 about 6 miles from home.
The cabin did not seem to be as warm as expected from the position...
The engine temperature showing on the gauge seems a bit low. In traffic, it won't go above 80deg, but then on the motorway it struggles to get over 60deg. I suspect the thermostat is sticking open, but I thought I'd ask for opinions on here before I go out and spend c£50 on another one
Thanks :)
Hi
I've read that poor fuel economy for diesel cars can be related to thermostat issues. My car very occasionally gets to 90 degs by most often sits between 60 and 70 degs (nearer 60 it seems but the scale is hard to read precisely). When it was really cold a couple of month ago the urban...
Well, after following threads on poor coolant temp I bit the bullet at the weekend and fitted a new 'stat to the C270Cdi. Genuine part was £44 complete with sender, seal and housing.
Took me an hour and a half (and I withdrew the oil filter to make life easy). Broke a couple of clips, but no...
Has anyone done this DIY?, would be handy to hear from someone who has, as it seems a bit of a small thing to bother taking it to a garage for.
Where abouts are they located on the 220 cdi?.
Would like to change the thermostat on my ML270 CDI
Is there any thing I should be wary of or remember to do?
I have read about the fragile fuel lines.
Thanks
KenM
Due to my engine running slightly on the cold side, i have bought a thermostat from ECP and wna have a bash at fitting it. is there anybody that could give me a step by step guide or point me in the direction of a 'how to' as to how to do it? its a 91 500SEL. any specialist tools required?
I've had a lazy thermostat for a while now I thought it was about time I changed it. I've recently done a coolant change so (a) I didn't want to waste any and (b) I just wanted to see if it was possible.
This requires a vacuum fluid extractor.
If you've used yours for oil changes rinse it out...
Am currently in the process of slowly replacing the head gasket on my 94 e220 Coupe W124.
Having a slight problem in removing the Thermostat housing though......
Have removed all the bolts attaching onto the front timing cover but yet still cannot remove, it looks like the housing slides...
My car is taking an age to warm up on these less than pleasant days. I think it's safe to assume the thermostat is past its teutonic prime.
I freely admit this is the worst type of forum question because I could get off my lazy behind and go look but ........
Where is it?
Any hints or tips...
I am needing to replace the cooling system thermostat on my motor,am i right in thinking that it is located on cylinder block where bottom radiator hose connects to..George..
Hi all,
Ive noticed with the recent colder weather my 97 S280 is taking longer to get warm in the morning. I get warm air through the heater almost immediately but yesterday for example (which was very cold) it took a good 10-15 mins to reach 80c.
First thoughts are of course thermostat...
