When you get it back the back edge of the door should sit 1mm proud of the rear door, and the front wing should be 1mm proud of the front door
Though the car is quite new, if it is only the door that needs re hanging correctly It may need a new door seal as the door being in the incorrect place could have deformed the rubber seal, giving wind noise or allowing traffic noise to come in
Ah funny you should say that, as I also mentioned to them that the bottom seal wasn't rightso they should sort that too. - We shall see !
ok, here are some pics![]()
Perhaps the door has been badly danaged previously and it had to be removed for painting or replacement.
Does the paint look different in anyway ????????

I agree you have to know what you are looking at, and what you are doing, and I have done this work.I while back I noticed the rear door on my W202 was misaligned. I spent the whole day trying to adjust the striker, latch and hinges having never done anything like this before. In the end I had to take both the front and rear doors off but only managed a slight improvement. It's not as easy as one might imagine. I have a feeling my car was never right from new.
Looking at the BMW TIS and running a depth gauge around the panel gaps it's clear BMW have tighter tolerances. Merc body shells are noted for their rigidity so it is disappointing Mercedes have such large shut lines. Hopefully Current Mercedes models are better in that respect. If you look at Jags or Lexus the gaps are wafer thin.
I doubt the shell itself is twisted but the wing and both doors might need alignment. If you change one thing the rest need doing.

Hi Muppetz,
How are you getting on with this claim?

Hi Muppetz,Just a little update on this. The car has been to the bodyshop (arranged by MB Harrogate) and had the door apparently adjusted. I *think* it still looks odd to me though... havent have chance or decent light to take pics to compare to the originals yet though.
I am due some new brake pads soon, and will book into MB Leeds where I bought the car to have those done. At that point (as they have much more stock) I will look at the car next to another one and make a judgement, if it still doesn't look right then I will see what Leeds will do with it
Thanks again to all for their advice so far![]()
To me if it is not perfect, then it is not acceptable, and by driving it are you technically accepting the vehicle?
Regards
John
