Hi I've got oil in the coolant but no signs of the head gasket gone is it possible the oil cooler could of failed causing this ?

Surely oil in the coolant is a sign that the HG may have gone.

Had the same prob with w124 and it was the oil cooler but everyone kept saying is th headgasket.

There is no engine "oil" cooler in a Mercedes 190 W201. There is a auto transmission " fluid" cooler coil incorporated into the water coolant radiator. These can corrode thro leading to "oil-like" contamination of the engine coolant? This can trash your auto-transmission so get it checked ASAP. There's a very sensitive test available for traces of glycol (ANTIFREEZE) in the automatic transmission fluid. Likewise there's a very sensitive test for a leaking CYLINDER HEAD GASKET using an exhaust gas analyser to "sniff " the radiator/expansion tank head space. My money is on the cylinder head gasket

Sounds to me like head gasket.

Oil cooler (item 11) for e280 same as many othe mercs and loads of other cars, quite a common failure on vag cars.
