Hi all

I'm after a bit of advice which I'm hoping folk out there can help me out with.

Got a fuel leak at the fuel metering unit (apologies if this is not the right term)in the engine bay which I'm trying to sort out. Had a look around the forrum and this seems to be a common issue, however I'm not quite piecing all the good bit of info together to get to a solution.

As with a few other posts there a diesel smell around the car and starting is getting a bit tempremental in the first minute or so, which I think is due to air in the system which can be seen in the clear'ish plastic pipes around the fuel metering unit. Theres also diesel on the body of the metering unit around the metal pipes which feed the injectors and the clear plastic ones

So can anyone help out with a couple of questions I have

1. O-rings are mention quite a bit. I've picked up that theres one on the black plastic shut off valve but where are the others located? Are these on the clear plastic pipe ends?

2. Wheres the best place to get o rings from/ Are they a MB Delaer part only?

3. Are there any seals / o rings between the metering unit body and the metal pipes and if so are these replaceable?

Any suggestions greatly appreciated

Cheers

All the clear pipes have O rings at either end, then one under the pre-filter and a set of five round the pump delivery valves and two on the shut-off valve..

The delivery valves require care, but are doable by a competent DIY-er.

If you run conventional diesel, just get genuine o rings, they are not expensive. If you are running other fuels like vegetable oil you need nitrile o rings, available on ebay etc.

Plenty of info on here on replacing these. Its "fuel pump" in english parlance, not the slightly more technically correct "metering unit"

Surely you need Viton rings for veg oil, NOT nitrile.

Mercedes rings are Viton, so safe for Veg oil.

Thanks for the replies

Do you know if the o rings are available from a MB dealer and if theres any guidance / how to's, on replacing the delivery valve o rings.

Checking it yesterday I think the delivery valve are the main culprits bit will probably change them all.

I'm just running the car n standard Asda diesel
