1999(R) C240 Engine Oil Level "HIGH"

Hi,
I just bought a 1999(R) C240 Elegance Auto. When driving at circa 70mph on a motorway the engine oil light came on with the word "HIGH" and several beeps.

I then slowed down and it disappeared. It does not happen at lower speeds.

Is this something I should be concerned about?

Sounds like it's either been over-filled slightly on oil or the sensor is packing up. If it's over-filled then higher oil pressure will cause the alert, if you just tootle around it'll never show up as the lower pressure won't cause it to trip. Fractionally too much oil probably won't cause a problem and will go away eventually, or at least it'll be gone entirely at the next service when it's all removed!

Your first job is to take out the dipstick when the car is warm, wipe off the oil, put it back in the tube then take it out again to see how much oil it shows. If it's above the MAX line then you know it's got too much oil in it.
