I have spent 30 mins or so reading through everything the search threw up; but no answers... Most are started but unresolved threads.

I need to replace the bottom door speakers on my 2000 R129. Previous searches show that they are 1 ohm speakers and most replacement 6.5inch drivers are going to be 4/8 ohm.

Is there a solution other than scouring breakers for a single speaker to replace the dead one? Are there any aftermarket speakers that will slot in, even if I need to trim the enclosure?
Standard Audio 10 headunit fitted.

thanks in advance.

They are actually two speakers integrated into one unit, and I'm not sure if they changed shape slightly with any off the facelifts. I have conflicting opinions of ease of access at the moment - one person I know has just had to have his door panel off, and says it took about 15 mins, but someone else reckons a lot longer. The oem speakers are of good quality if you can find one.

Yes I replaced mine with some really good ones. Hertz make them. Search my posts and find them or wait till I get back home and report in a day or two.

Hmmm... or something like this, perhaps...

INFINITY 6030CS +2YR WRNTY 6.5" 540W 2 WAY COMPONENT CAR AUDIO STEREO SPEAKERS 050667110390 | eBay

I'm looking into replacing my R129 speakers myself, as they are blown. The previous owner had a different head unit in... but then, this is the same guy who was happy driving around on 4 bald tyres...

I had a set of Infinty component speakers in my old car. They were good however I found that they needed to be driven by a separate amplifier to sound their best.
