I recently bought a 2001 ML 270 in Germany. It has a Nokia Hands free kit fitted which sits on the side of the centre consul. The handset is black and accepts a Nokia phone which I tried at the MB garage with the mechanics 6210 (it was an MB supplied phone with stickers inside on both the phone and the battery unit). He told me it had special software that enable it to work and an "ordinary off the street phone" would not work, Thinking he just wanted me to spend sbout 300 quid on a new phone I deceided to try an street unit and came across a 6310i which charged the phone, did not work or register on the screen with the little message that came up when he put his phone in the cradle "Hands Free" I think or something like that. I have searched the web and it appears that 6310's don't work but 6210's do. Before I charge off and buy a 6210 from ebay or some other source, can you advise me if you know if an ordinary off the street non mercedes supplied 6210 will work?
