2004 E55 - iPhone charging help

Just bought my 2004 E55 K2, it has an iPod connection cable in the glove box, this works with music on my iPhone 16mb 3g, well in a fashion, have nothing on the command AUX screen but does show song on the dash, and the buttons on the steering wheel move the songs on etc, I also have a Viseoo MBU 1000 unit that should pair to my iPhone 3G and sync the address book when I sort it tomorrow!
my question is can I change this cable in the glove box to one that charges my iPhone???

with the 3g, apple have changed charging pinouts. so the old components such as mb ipod kit won't directly charge. i've heard there would be an updated cable from mb but i think it's not out yet.

fortunately for about 20 quid there are adapters. look for Scosche passPORT Charging Adapter for iPhone 3G or there is a similar product from Belkin which i cannot remember the exact model name.

Sooooo happy with that, how easy, a little box between my MB iPod plug and my iPhone for under £20, ordered it now, hope it works!!!

Theres now a genuine Mercedes solution for this , which replaces the charging lead. I have yet to find my old iPod to see if the new lead charges the old 12v iPods though.
