3-year old fine...

If they have managed to track you down i.e. have your name and address it is likely that they will stop you from entering the country if you want to visit again and haven't paid the fine. It wont matter what car you are driving, it will be flagged up by the passport system.

I'm the past 3 years, I've been back "home" at least 9 times, making a total of 18 crossings of the border :p

There is no passport control on the Italian border... it's all covered under the schengen agreement (and I have an Italian passport :P). I just need to "flash" my passport and they wave you through (I carry an Italian passport when travelling to Italy :p)

Ahh, well in that case........:bannana:

A colleague of mine had received some fines in Holland without his knowledge from a hire car. and the next time he returned he was ordered to pay before he was allowed into the country. They could get you when you next hire a car.

I had a parking ticket issued in Finland last summer, parking in zone that required a blue timing disc to be displayed on the dash. Sent a nice letter, on arrival home, to the office address on the ticket pleading I couldn't read Finnish and was not aware of what I had done. Not heard anything since, and have been back to the same city and hired a car again.

Funny you should bring this up - I was thinking about it today!

I ended up not doing anything (mainly due to lack of time) and haven't heard from them since... so I might have gotten off...

As mentioned before, I'm not really worried that they wont "let me in"... There are no checks at the airport beyond a "wave your passport" sort of thing...
