Any good car trimmer can do this. Dont know where you are but D-class in Cobham Surrey do loads of them. Their work is excellent too.
Sounds like you have Mushroom leather .......
Go to a breakers' yard - passenger seats are usually in good condition and it is easy to swap over the covers - or take the runners off the bottom and fit the right handed ones to put the whole passenger seat in since the drivers seat springs usually sag with age and you will end up with a nice , firm seat as well .
Try sitting in your passenger seat and compare the feeling of support with your drivers one - you'll see what I mean .
