Hi!

Both mufflers finally gave way on my '93 190e 2.6 so I decided it was time to replace the exhaust system from the cat back. I think I have located all the parts that I need. It looks like a really easy job for a change. Any thing in particular I should look out for or may overlook based on anyone's prior experience?

Cheers!

If you have the system that has twin pipes (sliding coupling) from the catalytic converter to the centre box then you will have to careful when removing the old system not damage the straight stub pipe from the cat which goes into the socket pipe on the new centre box. Its sealed in with a compression ring fitting and a graphite or compressible wire seal ring (ferrule). The other connector is a straight bellmouth to bellmouth coupling with solid metal olive in the centre which is no problem. Its the setup depicted in the centre of the diagram for the 190 E 2.6 engine. http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb2.as...&L=765.903&CT=F&cat=431&SID=49&SGR=030&SGN=01
the graphite seal ring part no is 2024920381. Sounds more complicated then it is. You will see how it all goes together when you dismantle the old one.

Thanks! My 2.6 has the dual pipes from the converter. I'll make sure I get a new set of gaskets. Hopefully the old pipes will come off easily enough...

Cheers!
