96' C180 W202 immobiliser problem? RVM lights flashing simultainiously

#14 Yes the red light on the fob blinks if I do the holding for the few seconds to produce this.

I had a new battery fitted to the car when I purchased it in October last year as the guy who sold it to me must have fitted a knackered one then (as it was all dirty, and they don't get too dirty in the boot) so this is reasonably new, also even with that old knackered battery, the immobolisor didn't stop the car starting or anything.

As has been stated a weak main battery can make the alarm play up and the cruise control stops working too.
On my 1997 C180 you can switch the alarm off completely by using the small bullet type key which fits into a small switch under the passenger glovebox footwell. Hard to find as it pokes through a circular ventilation hole.

Ive had this problem before, BOTH of my keyfobs died, I had to call out the AA who towed me to my dealership.

£240 later I had 2x new keys and my car back on the road.

2x AA vans couldnt fix it.

Hi,

Sorry for sounding dumb, does anyone have a digram of how to take the keyfob apart?

It's the only key for the car and I don't really want to break the fob taking it apart if I can help it, especially if I am attempting it incorrectly.

Many Thanks

hi,
dont need a diagram, flip the metal key out, at the bottom part of the plastic where the metal key slots pull the bottom section of the plastic it just pulls off. there is no way you can break it, its designed for it to be opened, may need a bit of a pull, and beneath that you will see the batteries.

I had a similar problem, dealer told me on the way to be towed to them to disconnect the battery for 10 mins and retry, done this at a service station and bobs your uncle all working..
