A Business

Well, as 124Works was only "legit" last night, it's possible that I'm Ian's first legit customer :D

Here's Ian working hard in the sweltering heat today...

Spark Plugs...

Despite having an aversion to silver :p , I'd gladly welcome him back to do more work :)

You put the webcam on him Andrew ? ;)

Is that so you could 'keep an eye' while you sipped your Pimms ? ;)

Damn, busted :D

I did keep him well watered though ;)

Andrew is a gent, make no mistake about it. Well watered with cool refreshing fruit juice. Just the ticket. 12 plugs changed, doddle, dont know what all the fuss is about :D However I am getting a particular disslike for 208 gearbox's. Bloody stud sheared and now waiting to be removed. New clamp ordered. Gordon Caps (Parts Manager) at Mb Preston is the bizz. Asked for the part, no stock, asked when he could get it, 9am Friday he says. Cant ask more than that. So early oclock start, purchace stud extractor, get spare part then off to sunny Runcorn. After then to sunny Blackburn. Grand life if you can keep up with the pace.

best wishes Ian - they say the first million is the hardest...

You'll be amazed how much running around you have to do,some days,at least half my day was spent getting parts, taking cars for MOT's,dropping off and picking up customers etc.I seriously considered getting a Spec-Lift just so I could save some time.

Best of luck, hope you get as much out of it as I did!!

One piece of advice,...I learned the hard way.........,Always remember its not a hobby anymore, its the means to pay your mortgage, put clothes on your back, and allows you to eat sometimes.Friends are great, but you feel obliged to them, and this can cause you problems. This is where I went all wrong. You're running a business, not helping club members out.Harsh, but where will your mates be when the bank decides to re-posses your house...I hate even typing this, but many folks told me this...There ain't no friends in business.

When its going good, its the best feeling in the world though! :bannana:

Well said Tiff,
Just remember REAL friends will willingly pay.

It is indeed your livelihood.

John

All the luck in the world Ian and well done, i started on my own in 85 and have never regretted it. Take care.

Just thought I would let everyone know. 124works is legit now. Bank sorted, premsis looking good, equipment soon to be ordered. Overalls purchsed, new tools (ouch) and a few happy "friends". Van as seen in eBay thread forgotten about. Feeling sooooooooooo good. Now the worries begin :o

I hope all goes well with the new legit venture. Good luck!

If you really work at something it tends to happen.:)
Thanks "D" at present I am searching for alternate property due to a cunning plan :D wanting to trade off one against the other on more favourable terms. I want to be able to go in and offer 12 months rent up front at a discount. That way I wont have the worry of trying to meet the weekly rental. No stress = better job. Better job = happy returning customer. There are quite a few "projects" for want of a better word, in the offing. To realise this potential requires a number of things to happen. Stage one is well under way :D I wont go into details, but it will all come together once the items are in place, within 48 hours. Talk about working hard. No enough hours in the day at the moment.:D :bannana:

It is so great to see members making something of their passion - good luck to both of you!!

You also need to get that v8 190E finished so you can cover it in livery, take it to a track day and gets some good publicity :D
