A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum...

Well, on the drive to Cambridge actually

Every time I accelerated, (and revs rose above ~2000rpm ) I could hear what sounded like the aircon fan ramping up. Only for as long as the car was accelerating hard, as I eased off the noise stopped. The aircon fan was running all the time but seemed to increase in speed as the car accelerated

I turned the aircon off and pulled hard out of a roundabout and there it was! Definately sounds like the aircon fan spinning up?

Curious, I've never experienced this before...

Sounds like you have an air leak! Possibly from somewhere near the turbo as it only happens on accel?

That said, it didn't happen this morning! I know I'm not imagining it as my passenger also commented yesterday.

Car goes into dealer in a couple of weeks for MOT, so will get them to check it out.

Id stay away at the moment, on the way to work this morning I was diverted as they had found a body in the river under the footbridge at 8:50am - Id probably spotted it myself but I was in work 30mins later today.

Also, another guy was killed on Friday night!

No, no power loss. It's just a noise momentarily as the revs rise but not all the way up i.e. the noise stops before the revs stop rising.

Almost like there is a brief over-voltage and the fan surges.. But it still happens when the a/c is fully off

And YES I still have Service-Plus :bannana:

Something very similar happens to me too (and if its an air leak this might be the reason why my car is low on power these days!). Basically when i accelerate hard, or i'm on a motorway, i can send the revolutions of the aircon fan rising. If its off, it will still push out some air if revv'ed hard!

I wonder what it is?
