After Market tv interface sound but still no tv

I have a 1999 s500 lwb with comand 2.5. I recently got a MER05vid multi media interface on eBay.

My car already has the wiring in place for a tuner with 6 pin din plug and c1 block linked to terminals in the boot.

Unplugged the din and c1 and plugged in connectors from new unit, connected purple lead to pin17 on c2 block and yellow to pin 18. Picked up 12v from block A pin 1 and ground from pin 8 get 12v at other end so all looked good.

Now the challenge when I connect a DVD source to the interface and select tv on COMAND get sound but screen still says no tv.

Obviously interface box could be busted, but not sure how to check. Can anyone advise what pins COMAND uses to recognise presence of the tv tuner so that I can test out put from the interface and wires.

Any other ideas gladly received, spent hours checking forums but no joy you are last hope or interface becomes Ipod connector.

Theres a private CAN bus between the COMAND and the TV tuner which is used for COMAND to know there is a TV tuner and to send the control signals - that is the C2 pin 17/18 I would think.

Does it say 'No TV' - have you configured COMAND to tell it there is TV - it may just need coding .. the fact you have sound means that something is happening ...

Makes sense will put a meter o the wires and see if getting anything. I had slipped them inside the block so may be a connection issue.

If not you mentioned configuration options, I checked sites for service menus and no joy most are view only. Do i need to take to dealer to put star or SDS on to configure ?

Sorry to barge in, but there is a question that bugged me. In my MY2004 W220 is the TV tuner connected by CAN, MOST or both? The 1999 model is CAN from what I read.

Ok folks.

I have circuit tested all the wires, all test ok and two CANBUS leads show a signal so think wiring ok.

Makes me think Richards configuration point is correct.

Can someone tell me how to check and change config to enable Tv tuner (if possible). If I need to get in done for me does anyone know of a firm with SDS or Star who will do this sort of thing.
