Hi,

The ML's wheels look like they have suffered some weathering. Therefore I decided to look for wheel refurbishment specialists.

One company attracted my attention with 4 alloys for £100 or 1 for £25.

The company is located in Uxbridge, does it sound too good to be true?

They provide a full 12 months gurantee and state that they do work for car clubs and main dealers.

Thanks

Sounds ever so cheap to be honest.

I would have thought the lowest price would be around £60 per wheel.

But.... I would get over to them and have a look at their work before making a final decision.

whats the company called? sounds a bit cheap.. I pay £35 and im trade and have the refurbishers here for 2-3 days every week!

BJV Engineering, aka BJV Engineering - Alloy Wheel Refurbishing (bet that domain name keeps them in business..)

Charged me £40 a wheel for my golf and quoted £45 for the AMG (higher as tyres are still fitted - Golf wheels were nekkid).

Highly recommended.

Seconded, this place is one of best in country, they sandblast them back to bare metal and then repair and paint etc.....Most others just take top layer of paint off and go over them with an aerosol can of paint which will last for about ten minutes......I sent them a set of AMG alloys with a lot of damage to one wheel and they looked like new and stayed like new for at least 2 years until i sold the car.....:thumb:

So is the message send them to BJV??

Or should I try the £100 BD company?

Ebay ad says from £25 / £100 for repair / refurb depending on the amount of damage so if the wheels are badly damaged it will be more. Send them a picture of the wheels to see if they will be done for £100.

There has always been a lot of good feedback for BJV however a few years ago I had some lorinser wheels done... I was less than impressed...
They had painted over brake dust on the inside of the wheel and the finish wasnt great..

I didnt use them again..

but many i know still use them and are very happy..

I was probably a one off.

If you want to sell the car and just make them look good to move the car then a cheap mobile wheel place will be fine for that purpose but if you want a top job done so they are like new and stay that way i would send them to BJV.....:D

My wheels have just weathered and you can only see this when standing close to the car.

Ok, I will keep that in mind.

I am not planning on selling the car, however Monday to Friday I don't drive; only at weekends.

Hi Jay,

hmmm maybe yours was a one off, but then again someone may have had an off day. I have cleaned my wheels on the inside and there is no brake dust visible. Although before the brake dust covered up some of the imperfections.

I've used BJV three times and would be happy to use them again.

Wait - all my VW friends (me included) run "winter wheels" for good reason.

Sounds good Roger, Thanks

Would anyone suggest getting my wheels done now or waiting until the Spring?

Jdokal

I always had wheels cleaned at least once a week without issues in winter but you may as well wait to save any potential problems as they will be dirty most time anyway till spring......

Winter Wheels, I see your a dubber!

I don't drive the Merc in the weekdays only at the weekends, although I suppose it only takes one journey to damage the wheels.

So are you suggesting I get another set and use them as my winter wheels?

Jdokal
