It's that rear side window line as indicated in these (and previous renderings) that I might have issue with - it's just looks a bit average. And I truly hope the rear end doesn't end up looking like a Jaguar XK, again as early photos indicated it might (they both share a similar hatchback design).

Front ends looks superb.

I'm sure all will be good when the final pics are released :o

As my earlier post, there will be 2 versions of it, one with around 600bhp.

Also, it will be far lighter than the SLS.

I doubt it's going to be significantly lighter - the latest 911 (physically a smaller car) is now mid 1500kgs.

The SLS is 1620kg and already all aluminium/composites - take off the weight benefit of a lighter engine and use of some more composites, then add on some weight for improved spec and crash protection and I reckon you're low-mid 1500kg's....less than 100 kg drop.

Still, can't wait to see what this car is going to turn out like! Only the engine is of concern, because as per the other thread, it's character is potentially going to be more diesel than anything. Let's hope not!

the interior of the new AMG-GT is a massive improvement over the outgoing SLS finally AMG have put some quality into there flagship model . new engine wise hopefully this can compete with other priced super cars unlike the outgoing model SLS ..

I think with 600bhp for the S and being a little lighter it should be a force to be reckoned with...

I wonder if the 4.0 bi turbo is lighter .. all the turbo and bits must be quite heavy. for example, the 3 liter SL400 with bi turbo is 45kgs heavier than the 3.5 liter NA SL350

You don't think the SLS competes with its peers then ?

What do you base that assessment on ?

don"t get me wrong the SLS is great looking car externally -its the interior that lets it down and the fact it was never as good against its rivals / Ferrari 458 /Mclaren hopefully the new AMG -GT will be an all round true super car not just a FAT BOY car[ fast in a straight line ]like the SLS ...

That cabin architecture looks outstanding and that steering wheel is great - hopefully it'll retain the perfect driving position of the SLS (very straight legs with a straight wheel that come out nicely to the chest) - it sure looks like it will in the picture. The dials look relatively ordinary though.

Mmm, this appears to be typical of comments made by people who haven't driven one.

As an SLS owner, you would expect me to be somewhat biased however I can categorically confirm that the SLS is not a straight-line only car - your comments indicate you've either not driven one, or if you have, you didn't know what you we're experiencing. The SLS is utterly fabulous in bends.

But don't take my word for it, as I only speak from experience. Here's a professionals view....

In my own words, the chassis/structure is outrageously stiff (certainly it's good enough to be retained for the new GT), the car is reasonably light (it would be 911 weight if it wasn't for the 6.2) and the steering very direct - on the road, theres just no slack in the structure so it feels very agile and it corners extremely flat.

It's not perfect - it rides much harder than you'd expect (it is not the soft cruiser that most think it is) and the suspension could do with tighter damping to control vertical movement (easily corrected with a GT damper upgrade). But on the whole, I bought my second SLS because after selling the first one, I missed the handling apsect the most. Oh, and the engine.

As for the interior, yes it is quite a plain architecture but the build quality is in another league to most other supercars - a Ferrari doesn't come close. Only Porsches / R8's are comparable.

Is a 458 a better car? Maybe it's a more focussed machine, it sure has better brand cachet but as a supercar to use daily, it's too much of a one-trick pony....I have experience of the 458 and I can't imagine sitting in it everyday on the M1. I reckon cars like the SLS, R8 V10 and top-end 911's are in a class of their own when it comes to daily usable supercars that just 'work'. I compared a new 991 back-to-back with the SLS before I bought my current one....I chose the SLS (again) because it felt so much more special and will hold it's value better.

I reckon the GT will add to that list of fantastic everyday super cars....I just hope that turbo engine doesn't let the side down. Having now owned both of BMW M's newest turbos in the new M6 and M3, I can certainly say that BMW's efforts are good but not a touch on AMG's N/A 6.2, so I am a little concerned for the future.

why do they call it the ultimate track day weapon??? Really Dhard !!! You should stick in your slow lane at 70mph if you not find it to dangerous and don't talk about what you don't know!!!

Judging by the old saying, “What you don’t know can’t hurt you,” you are practically invulnerable

THE sls is a beautiful looking car but fora car costing £160k+ new its flawed the interior looks no different than an standard slk . The engine as with all amg cars is a one trick pony finally Mercedes have see the light and replacing it .The fact is the sls was an outdated car when it was launched but don"t take my word on that read any motoring magazine .I like to play golf it does mean I as good as Tiger Woods some people are a bit delusion when it comes to reviewing cars ...

oh Dhard you have some terrible jokes!!!!dated!!!!!!??? Some people defeat what they can't afford !!!

I don't remember any review sating the SLS was dated when launched dhard?

Just because the interior is similar to the SLK does not mean it's flawed - if you actually experienced living with one (you know, day in, day out, in the real world) you'd realise the sheer quality of the thing makes it very satisfying. Theres nothing deluded about this opinion - I have had plenty of experience to compare it to so the delusion here is from the person with no experience of the cars they're commenting about.

Your comments on the 6.2 engine confirm you really know very little....well regarded as one of the worlds bets engines. Ever.

However, you are entitled to your opinion so, as you were.....
