My dealer has now received their demo GT S and FINALLY, I'm going to get to drive one! Only 7 months after I ordered it.....although with 3.5 months still to go before mine arrives a test drive is probably just going to be a big tease.

You can see from my C63 S thread how impressed I am with the new engine, and AMG seems to have some new-found mojo in pretty much every other technical and dynamic area. This GT seems destined to be an outstanding drive.

Hoping to get it for the weekend so roll on Saturday  This is the colour I've ordered mine in too......

Hi Andrew
You are going to love it. I took it out on Friday it's simply awsome.
Much more drivable than the SLS steering is very light and gearbox is light years ahead of the SLS even after the upgrades. Enjoy, I did.

Paul

I saw one of these at the recent Goodwood supercar sunday and I think it needs a more exciting colour.

Looks great, with some terrific reviews, though I do wish they'd kept the four pipes, as per AMG's of recent years.

Haha - now I know it is Merc Derby :thumb:

It certainly is!

Hey up Paul, I've heard the steering is light....I hope not too much. Given how good the C63 is (if I'm honest, not far off the SLS in terms of fun but much easier to drive), this GT should be out of this world!

I know what you mean about colour but I'm not really struck by any of them. I like the yellow but I'm not spending £10k on paint! I wanted a red but it deserves more than a flat colour hence pitting for Hyacinth. Second choice would've been grey, but I'm fed up of grey, black and white cars!

Even the SLS didn't have four pipes. Can't be a proper AMG

Seriously nice car, would love one when prices hopefully come down...

Seen a grey one in mb Glasgow. Real nice and so compact

Andrew I also should be picking up a demo car for this weekend. It will be interesting to compare notes.

I have been offered an early delivery car in the same colour as above as well but getting the test drive out the way before confirming.

Cheers

Justin

The outdoor shots make the paint look a bit bland, but it is an overcast day.

Indoor with more specular lighting it glows much nicer, so outside on a sunny day it should gleam beautifully. :D

What's the MB rationale behind the £10K yellow option?

Probably because......they can :dk:

Hi Justin, yes would be good to see what you think.

Following my drive of the C63 and experiencing how well developed that car is I have high hopes for the GT. When you then consider that it shares some key basic underpinnings with the SLS (itself relatively overdeveloped in some areas of it's technical specification), it should a) feel quite unique and b) be an outstandingly good drive.

Love the colour, but the wheels ruin it for me.

I'm not a fan of these optional wheels - I'm sticking with the standard wheels on mine. In fact, mine will look exactly like this:

I have a bit of an issue with colour choice on the GT.

This Hyacinth Red looks outstanding in some lights (see the picture I've just posted above) but in dull/overcast lighting, it can look a bit.....flat.

I don't particularly want a grey, black or white car, I like the yellow but it's too much money so this left Brilliant Blue or one of the two reds. The Brilliant Blue looks great on the C63 but I'm not sure it's bright enough for the smaller GT. I think a car of the calibre needs more than a flat red (which looks a bit ordinary) so, by process of elimination, I've ended up with Hyacinth Red.

Andrew,

The colour is a dilemma I agree. The early delivery car I have an option on is the same colour as you have spec'd although I can change the trim and wheels.

Test car being picked up Friday morning for a couple of days so let's see but I have high hope too.

Enjoy
