AMG Widebody 190

Talbir, is it not possible to go for staggered pentas, or is that a look that you are staying away from?....

Also talking of widebodies, in that picture in the corner of your profile, the Ferrari GTS looks quite stunning, can you tell us abit about it?... quite intrigued as to what the Koenig kit consisted of....

Cheers Dee

I'd like too, but i am forced to go with the series 2 w126 Pentas here, which have raised spokes...i need the raised spokes as the front calipers are too big on the 190 2.6 to accomodate the series 1 w126 Pentas.

These wheels were also refurbed by Spit and Polish last year (they were on my AMG 500SL which i sold) and since the colour of the car will be the same, it's easier to stay as it is.

cheers

There's something kinda cool about the retro US look...

Me too, i think they are so cool....and it's a good excuse to get rid of the headlamp wipers which just don't go with the whole Widebody 'i'm on steroids' look !

I have the US headlamps on the Widebody SEC, the Brabus SEL, this Widebody and will also place them on the Hammer too....they are easily interchanged with the Euros and the look i love is the yellow fogs !

cheers

Yellow fogs also rock! Don't think anyone else is with us on this though...

Can the light pattern on the US spec lights be modified for the UK / RHD, or do you need to use beam deflectors?

Sorry, forgot to answer this part - the 328 GTS is one that when purchased new, was sent straight to Vantagefield on Park Lane in London back in 1987....and they fitted the Koenig bodykit. Vantagefield were one of many coachwork shops entrusted with specialist conversions, e.g. Styling Garage, AMG, Koenig. And out of all those shops open in the 80s, only Vantagefield today still exists and in business !

Koenig were highly impressed with Vantagefields work on this car when their guys checked out the conversion !

There are no drivetrain mods though, Koenig did do a Turbo conversion, but this car retains the normally aspirated power from it's quattrovalvole engine.

David Linder who is MD at Vantagefield remembers the time the work on my car was done and has fond memories of it, Great guy as well.

If you need any help whilst doing the kit or engine, let me know mate.
Would be good experience and a new learning curve for me!

I keep getting ideas for the 3.2 now !

I really do like that look and I will need wider rubber on the rear - but to be honest I think I will be staying with a stock body because I dont have your patience to hunt down the kit :)

However I will be watching this one with interest!

Looks absolutely awesome so far Talbir, good luck with the project.
568 Signalrot you say... Good call!

Love the plan, but are you sure about Signal Red? Makes my eyes hurt everytime I see a W124 or W201 in it.

Still, you seem to have an '80s fetish going on, so I suppose it's right for you. Sort of picture you with big shoulder pads, '80s big hair and leg warmers... :p :D

Ha ! ROTFLMAO ! I don't think anyone's ever described me so perfectly !

Well i had to choose a colour that i don't have in my fleet....it came down to a choice between Silver, Pearl grey and Signal red....and red won the day ! Who know's, i might change my mind last minute....i gotta strip the entire car, windows, interior, engine etc before she goes into the bodyshop. Colour change is a big job !

But red would mean i have a white, black and red MB in the fleet...the 3 most popular catalogue colours for AMG and MB in the 80s.

red widebodies look amazing... my first choice for my project was red but couldnt find a suitable donor car in red..

N/B please post some pics of your 190 in the gallery section so 'yer man' here can see how good signal red can look

A 4.2 is enough in a lightweight 190....car already has Carat lowering springs on it, so i need to see what she drops to with the additional 200kg of the V8 before changing to the Brabus kit. Hopefully i might find AMG suspension kit by then.

The 4.3L M113 weighs 206kg which is the lightest V8 I think - M119 with ME-SFI is around 240kgs. The engine that's in it must weigh half of that surely?

Done ;)
Manalishi, you crack me up. I have to say, the 16v kit doesn't suit 568, as it doesn't have enough detail.
An AMG Gen-II kit would be my choice for a body upgrade, but I don't suppose the Evo-1 kit would look bad either.

I like your car, but red on a Widebody doesn't appeal. I've always thought that if I ever took on a project it would be a V8 W201, however in DTM colours :D.

Just checked your gallery posting...

B*gg*r! If you're going to mess with my prejudices, I really need more notice. Yours is a great-looking car - superbly done and annoyingly well photographed (though getting a helicopter to do the birds-eye shots is a bit OTT ;)).

I sit corrected! :D
