Angel tuning?

Thanks... just had a look online to revise my quote with elephant. Apparantly they wont insure the car if the bhp increases over 25%! Even a 25% increase costs £250 more. ...........

I would not like to take the risk of not telling the insurance company just incase the worst happens. Looks like i'll have to give it a miss.

I got an E-mail from Simon Coe at CCC tuning who says he will come to me and do the work for £275.00 inclusive. He is an agent for Upsolute and I loved the Upsolute chip I had fitted to my old Vento TDi. He is quoting 175BHP and 251lb/ft for my car with the chip.

I hadn't heard of Angel tuning until I read this thread, and was then amazed to see one of their vans near Tamworth on Sunday!!

There's a good chance I'll be getting my car done on Thursday! I'll let you know the results of course!

I'll be looking for an Angel Tuning date in September to focus peoples minds

Let us know how it goes.

I've just had this back from Torquing BHP for my W203 C320:

We are able to offer a remap for your car which will take the power from 215bhp to 240bhp and increase the torque from 310Nm to 340Nm, this will not only improve the performance but you can also get better MPG (when compared with like for like driving conditions). We also remove the 155mph top speed limiter as part of the remap.

See http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=27917&page=4

Don't know which way to go, may have to wait a bit and see how others get on. Until now I'd only really ever heared of Superchips & DMS Automotive.

I've been quite interested in this so I emailed the Simon Coe at CCCTech to see what he could do with my 2.3 Kompressor in my CLK.

This is what he said.

Please find attached the figures for your vehicle.
The fully inclusive cost of the upgrade is £270, I can travel to you to carry out the work which takes approx 2 hours.
As well as the attached performance increase you will also see an improvement in the responsiveness of the vehicle and the pick up at lower revs. You should see a slight increase in fuel economy, but to be honest this will be quite small – especially if you use the extra power at your disposal often !
I remove the ECU and reprogram the memory containing the management software to achieve the increase in performance.
Don’t hesitate to ask should you have any further questions regarding the upgrade.

Seems like a nice guy from the email.

The performance figures are viewable in the attached PDF doc he sent me.

One thing is, I thought the later 230K engines (of which I presumably have given that its a facelift CLK) had 197bhp rather than 193bhp. I know its not much in terms of power but might mean that the way a chip needs to work to get the best of the engine is different. Can anyone shed any light on that?

I'm quite interested in this, but I've been quoted £275 for around 20bhp from CCCTech so would want a little bit more info on the supposed 30bhp that Angel Tuning think they can extract out of my CLK230.

I E-Mailed Angel as the C43 was not on there list they said they needed to have a look at the engine,so when one of there men are in my area they will come and have a look

Hi Peter,
Angus is in the same position as you and works in London. He's talking to Nigel on Monday. Have you got a meeting lined up with Angel? you may choose to meet up with Angus at the same time. I have contact details for Angus (we work for the same company). If they can fix you up then we may have 7 if all on the list can be tempted by the real chance of getting inprovements for £250. I can't see how else that can be achieved.

Simon Coe of CCC did my car a few months ago. He's a nice bloke who knows what he is doing. We got on fine and my car feels smoother, quieter, and has better drivability.

Re. Older models and tuning I had my C class w202 superchipped which involved removing the ecu and doing chip soldering. All went well and I have had no problems with either route ie chip or port tuning.

Both cars I have informed my insurers Privelige who are fine with it.

I can recomend CCC and Simon Coe and their programs are written by Upsolute. HTH

jfyi I have asked Angel and MB for a torque rating for my 7G box

Blassberg - just a thought, Brabus tune the 320CDI engine (at a huge cost) but theirs is factory supported and retains the warranty.

Give them a call re the torque/gearbox issue as a potential punter (as whatever they do must be Ok'd by Merc).
