Hi Peter,
Angus is in the same position as you and works in London. He's talking to Nigel on Monday. Have you got a meeting lined up with Angel? you may choose to meet up with Angus at the same time. I have contact details for Angus (we work for the same company). If they can fix you up then we may have 7 if all on the list can be tempted by the real chance of getting inprovements for £250. I can't see how else that can be achieved.

Can Angus let me know the outcome as his engine is the same as mine.

Many thanks.

good news - the C43AMG's may be a remap and not a re-chip. Meeting in Warwick soon to assess.

Hi Guys,

Hope I'm not letting anyone down here but I spoke to Nigel (who sounds like a top bloke) and he told me of the gains I could expect, which is basically around the same as what CCCTech told me, which stands to reason.

I'll withdraw my name from the Angel Tuning list as to be honest for the extra £25 CCCTech would charge I'd save more than that by not having to be at a particular location at a particular time as my weekends are typically chockablock.

Good luck!

Andy

cheers Andy - we could have come to you by the way as location not arranged yet and the 2 C43AMGs are 'down south'.

let me know by 16th if you change ur mind

3 andy's were interested - interesting - sort of

Hi. Just acquired W210 E320 CDI and Angel Tuning remapped it last night!!

Very professional and they know Mercs. Work done by 'Andy' who is ex MB main dealer technician.

Haven't recieved print out of comparitive stats yet but first impressions are that power band is broader - car feels to be pulling stronger during more of the rev range.

Specifcally, I have a local dead straight road that is a 90 degree turn off the main road so I enter it rolling slowly in 1st gear and then floor the pedal to the kickdown (auto) and measure speed achieved by a landmark.

Before remapping I hit exactly 95mph. After remapping I hit exactly 100mph. For interest, my recently departed W126 500SEL also hit exactly 100mph, the 190E hits 80mph, and the Porsche (250BHP model chipped etc. to c300BHP) hits 110mph. Can't explain why these figures are such nice multiplyers of 5 - they just are! All speeds taken from car's speedo's.

Anyway - total recommendation of Angel Tuning!

Happy to answer any questions. Is there any downside to remapping? BTW too soon to see any improvement in fuel consumption - I've been booting it everywhere today!!

? excuse my cynicism ?
One post since joining after re-tuning as opposed to joining in with a group discount??

nice bike though

1. You need to tell your insurance company.
2. Your dealer re flashes your ECU from time to time and you will need to tell them not to flash your ECU. At my last service they were going to flash (and thereby remove my tuned map) and one of the mechanics who knows me stopped them from doing it. If you dont say then your car will regularly be flashed with the latest software. Obviously if you do tell them them then they have a perfect get out on warranty claims "oh its because it has been modified".

BTW C Classes are currently being remapped to cure an idling issue on some cars.

HTH

Absolutely agreed re the insurers - not worth trying to duck the extra premium and then finding yourself on the wrong end of a £1m 3rd party claim with no cover!

The decent tuners will install the map again following a dealer flash (and also revert to standard when you sell. Good way to check them out is to see if they offer you a CD of the standard map as part of their service.

re Blassberg "cynicism" - only just bought the car so only just found your forum yesterday after the remapping - been posting on USA MB forums on the other models I own /owned but they don't seem to have had the 210 320CDI in the states, or at least it's not listed in the models covered, so I went looking for a UK forum and found you and this thread. Like Blassberg I'm located near 2 of the guys from Angel but nothing to do with their firm - just a happy customer. And yes it is a nice bike - girlfriend and I went to the Alps this year. Stelvio Pass amazing - actually, would be another excellent test of big turbo diesel car - anyone done it??

The last "big Diesel" I took into the Alps was an LDV mini-bus with a 1.9 Peugeot engine in it. Struggling up the passes in second gear with the temperature guage in the red was an experience - just not a very good one!!

I'd love to take my motor up there though, its a total thug since I got it chipped yesterday :D
