As fitted on a 2007 W203. Push the green button to escape!

Perhaps American's feel the need to lock themselves inside their boots?

As posted on Mbworld.com forums, the car came with it.

It has been a legal requirement on ALL USA vehicles for years!

UK spec cars will not have this feature and I doubt that the W204 will as well.

Not good for "Gangsters" then who kidnap their victim (s) and chuck them in the boot... :D

What, an American trapped in the boot??

What happens if there's something rolling around in your boot - which isn't an American - but does hit the button??

Presumably the button solves the problem with it rolling around :D

my 2002 w203 has this and the green button even flashes, I presume its all the time as i've looked at it with the boot open in the dark with the lights on and off. Not decided yet to get in the 'trunk' and close it to see if it still flashes though :) maybe I could coax the missus into doing that!

it wont open with the ignition on. Its in case you lock yourself in the boot and the keys are either with you or outside the car. I supose you could be really dumb and lock yourself in having left your car keys in the ignition, but how did you lock the doors once in the boot?

I was looking forward to the handle in the boot on the Chrysler, Being mischievious I was hoping to leap out of it on trick or treat night and scare the kids, but it seems its deleted on UK spec models.
