New E-Class on order and I've had the e-mail from the dealer pushing Gardex paint protection and the dealer chain's dent repair insurance. Can anyone provide any feedback, especially about cost?

My previous experience of paint protection schemes is that thy are over-priced and poorly applied, but maybe MB main dealers are a cut above the rest.

As for the dent/scuff repair insurance, it sounds like a great idea, but cynic that I am, I'm expecting the annual cost to be more than my car policy so why bother unless you are a 20 year old with an E63.

After market paint protection is available widely, but I've never heard of the dent repair insurance, so it intrigues me a little.

I never paid for Gardex and alwys had it foc. The chemical pack costs the dealer very little money and is applied by the valeters prior to handover. If they don't do it then they use there own chemicals anyway.
The first thing I would do in your case was have the car done by a professional detailer. Paint correction, waxing and sealing.

The value of dent repair depends on your insurance excess. In my case I had my dealer throw that in too as part of the deal.

I took my GAP insurance with ALA (as always) and added chip and dent cover this time.

Reasonable price and scope, I haven't used it yet.

I would compare rates, ALA are exceptional for GAP...

As for Gardex I thought it was crap and pointless.
Easier to clean and seal with Collinite 476s or some other hard, long term wax that lasts months.
Never use the carwash and at handover you won't have any trouble,

Steve

brand new car - use a detailer every time - then send merc the bill for poor workmanship - if they wont pay - small claims court - that's if you want to waste your life!!

Thanks for the replies. I've never heard of ALA but a quick on-line quote for full replacement value looked like a really good price.
