Always thoroughly check the small print as to what components are covered and what components are not covered and the circumstances in which they are covered.
I use Warranty Direct and have been caught out by this before.
depends what your buying, they cover you for 5 years on white goods and most electronics goods for example under the sale of goods act and will exchange stuff no questions if it packs in, so no point buying one for a telly or fridge, i know this to be true even though its not publicised as it was part of my ex's job to deal with.
