Sort of Detailing!

Well I would not insult Detailed by saying I detailed my CLK, overcast so I washed down with the Karcher, then 2 bucket wash with Meguires Gold classs car wash with 2 different was mits upper and lower bodywork, towelled dry with microfibre cloth then gold class carnuba liquid wax....take a bit of buffing by hand.

Then same again minus the wax on the the other 2 cars (wifey was complaining hers needed a wash)......my back is killing me today...would have taken pictues....but it rained!!! looks like rain for the next week as well :(

I will have to go to the gym for a few months to do a proper job as described in detailed's threads!!!!.....40hrs!!!

I have not had the chance to do any detailing in my entire life because I can't be a*sed and life is too short to spend a weekend polishing a car.
A real enthusiast we see. Should you not be on the KIA forum ...if there is one.

I wonder how many people on their deathbeds wish they'd spent more of their weekends detailing a (usually leased) car than with their children or families or friends.

Totally know where your coming from there, im usually flagging a bit half way through polishing if ive done all the claying and de-taring stuff. Maybe the pro detailers should bring out some sort of detailers fitness DVD,lol.

Ha I think you're right, having watched the apprentice and seen what rubbish won the Fitness DVD task!!

Just need a name...Fit to Detail.......Detail your body!!! etc..... amazing forearm and shoulder toning!!

Very nice job on both :thumb:

How come you got 10 minutes of no rain to do anything? Been meaning to give my car some TLC for 2 weeks now but whenver I have had time it has been chucking it down

Ooo dear was it worse that the mobile food stands they did the other week? i was cringing through most of that.

Your on the right lines with the name, Ive just got visions of Mad Lizzy holding a DA polisher for the front cover, lol.

Awesome job, did you say you took them all with your iphone? photos look amazing SLR quality....

Over this weekend ive been letting my shoulders recover after spending a few evenings this week attempting to reduce the orange peel my car has by hand  Im itching to give my front seats a clean but i think the weather has different ideas.

Sorry about the noisy iPhone photo.

What products did you use to have success with MB paint?

I took the photo of the A-pillar with my trustie old Canon EOS 350D with the standard lens on but the picture of the rear quarter was taken on a iPhone 3G.

I had to have the side re-sprayed twice in the space of 12months due to vandals so its not factory paint but i believe the body shop used Mercedes paint. Its not got rid of it completely but its made it a lot less noticeable.

Renault body shop rubbing compound,
Halfords rubbing compound,
AG SRP,
AG HD Wax,

Heres the tub the Renault compound came in if its any help.

I gave it a bit of a top up with some Poorboys White Diamond and Dodo Juice RainForest Rub this evening :D

Managed to get some in today finally

stuck to the usual 2 bucket method, iron x gel, clay, wash down then used Z5 polish followed by chemical guys ez creme then chemical guys black light, really impressed by the finish; rolled the car out of the garage mid afternoon sun gleaming and it was hurting my eyes to look at the car it was that reflective and shiny which is always a good look to have.

The cars on here are brilliant, everyone is doing a very fine job indeed.

Mine is quite bland in comparison, but I am very proud of it. It needs some more TLC (Exhaust/Sill trims/bit more carpet shampoo and replacing the front wings due to rust)

When I bought it a couple of weeks ago:

After, with about a day and a half spent on the inside, cleaning leater, grit and grime, and most of a day on the outide:

Soon I hope to have it MOT'd! Hasn't even left the driveway yet as no tax/insurance/MOT. So don't have a clue if the 4matic works, the brakes work etc. These shall be jobs for this week :)

^ Thing is imho thats much better job the new cars cleaned (detailed)

Any new car will look pretty smart even with a European hand car wash and slap on some tyre black.

Its the older ones brought back to life that I think are the real stars. I'm on Detailing world forum and some of the old cars in Red that have gone pink and the bumpers black to grey they look like new after some of the guys worl their magic :)

Good work that man
