Looks like a guy in our village may have had to surrender his reg, B11 OCS.
He has just traded in his Porche for a new Lexus but it is carrying a 13 plate. DVLC have tightened up on "offensive" plates.

Unless he was repeatedly illegally spacing it, it's a bit of a p155 take as they would have sold him the right to display it in the first place

Maybe he wants people to know he has a new 13 plate for a while and will put it back on at some point

That's right but DVLC are re-calling certain plates. I'm not aware if they are compensating owners in some way but doubt it.
B11 OCS, and similar, could have been issued back in 1964 with no particular thought given to the innuendo that applies now.

Read the small-print on the back of number plate transfer forms. At all times the use and ownership of this plates remains with the DVLC and can be recalled at anytime.

Which is why I would never pay big bucks for a plate, too easy to loose! £250 for my DVLA special is about as high as I would go!
